Secondary play was concerning

There were too many wide open ND receivers running free in our secondary.
1.1st TD—not only was there 1 receiver with no DBs within 5 yards for their first TD, there was another guy behind him also wide open
And we had 8 defenders in coverage
2. Second half there was 1 receiver wide open with no one within 10 yards of him, Carr hit him for critical 1st down
3.In critical 4 th quarter drive , there was no one within 20 yards of #9 for huge gain that set up score

Just not acceptable to have so many wide openplayers in our secondary.Hopefully it’s 1 st game issues that get corrected.
Post of the year candidate!!!

This is when you put down the keyboard and take a step back and realize you have no idea what you're talking about. LOL

If you watched the game you would have notice they were playing off the receivers 10-15 yards. They wanted him to throw underneath. The one where Toure’s man was wide open it was a safety misread on Jokobe. You can argue the scheme but not the play. We also got two turnovers off of pass plays.

This may be shocking to some, but no player is perfect. If you think Bain was perfect Sat., I don't know what to tell you and those ND T's were terrible. People see a player make 2 mistakes in a game and then go out on social media or a board, they are concerned with a player or position. That could end up being true, maybe not. We finally have a legit 2 deep. While, I would say their is a drop off at every single position except CB, RB, IOL and WR. Anyone believing Blount or Lightfoot is on Mesidor or Bain's level needs to watch more tape. 3rd strings are gone in the NIL era for all. No more Bama of 10 years ago or UGA of 5 years ago. Players need to develop as the season goes on.

They did a good job overall, but there were definitely some lapses. One I think some people missed is on that play in the 4th quarter drive for the huge gain that set them up for the score, where the announcers focused on Traore blowing the coverage. Watching the replay view from behind the QB, Keionte Scott, who it looked like Traore was assuming would pick up his man after the initial 10 yds, looked like he was playing deep zone (lined up at S) then for some reason started coming toward the LOS while their QB was still in the pocket and allowed the receiver to run free behind him.
Yes there was def stuff like this that needs to be cleaned up. But not worried, literally the start of the season and we got real tape to self scout now. Got a scrimmage next to cover and hammer home basics, then a nice tune up game before we get back into the meat of the schedule.

They were fine, but they weren’t really tested downfield so the jury is still out IMO. The busted coverage late was awful timing, and the miraculous scramble drill no look pass was fluky. OJ got beat, but Fields was well covered so that’s just physics..it happens.

USF and UF both will take their shots, we’ll circle back then and have a better idea what we are dealing with before FSU and UL.
With who exactly? Aside from the random walk-on that killed us in the slot, USF did nothing through the air against our morbid secondary last year

Didn’t say it’d work or it’d be effective, just that I expect them to take their shots because that’s typically their style. Golesh will create 1 on 1 opportunities and Brown will test it, especially after a successful rush or 2.

Tough crowd. All things considered after last year had I told you we'd hold ND to 221 yards passing and one passing TD I think everyone would have been thrilled.

I was more worried about the run game and btwn Love sucking and NDs play calling I was clearly wrong.
