SEC Hypocrisy Is Richer Than Miami’s NIL Budget

My step-sister was at Shiloh with Pollack and was close friends with his then GF (wife). I met him a couple times. I’ve seen 1st hand what a hypocrite he was. He always preached a straight edge lifestyle while being wild away from cameras. I’ve also seen 1st hand UGA throwing lots of $ pre-NIL. These SEC talking heads pretending like they didn’t openly cheat is disgusting.

Sweet baby jesus this is a bad take:

1. Tackle is one of the most valuable positions in the NFL. The good ones get paid A LOT. If you are allocating resources, you probably want to make sure offensive tackle is near the top of the list.

2. There is no salary cap, so whether we pay the guy 2 million or 3 million, I am not sure that changes anything in regards to the rest of the roster.

3. You shouldn't pay him because he is more likely to get hurt than a QB? Just grasping at straws with this argument.

4. His development argument makes such little sense that he corrects himself mid-take. First he tries to say "well the transfer portal lets you get players in immediately" as if first-round tackles are widely available in the portal. Then he starts to say Miami's offensive line hasn't been good before correcting himself mid sentence and saying last year they were actually pretty good. Then he spends a bunch of hot air talking about wanting to make sure he goes somewhere where he can be a Top 10 pick without even bothering to mention that Miami has the best offensive tackle in the country going in the Top 10 next season.

I am not big on the "this guy is biased" argument, but coming from someone who actually lightly defended Stacy Searels in the great "who is better at developing offensive linemen" debate of 2025, Pollack sounds like a Georgia fan throwing a hissy fit here.
100%

Stacking talent on the OL in Miami, ended up getting A LOT of skill players at Miami paid very well later on.

We saw what a good QB can do for us with time to work

I posted this elsewhere, Pollock was a first round pick and didn't wait to "earn or prove" it in the NFL, like he wants these players to do. Instead he actually held out of more than half of training camp.
Someone should ask him this. Obviously a player cannot be in the NFL for free, but why did he not sign a minimum contract rookie deal - same as an UFA - and then allow himself to prove his worth and earn a much higher second deal? His college reputation is what put him into the high bracket first round - he had done nothing in the NFL to earn that salary.

What is the difference?

What did he say that was so outrageous? Nothing! Pollack has actually had a couple of opinions I haven't liked over the years. Over all, I like the guy. His UGA bias sometimes gets him, as it does most of us. Wait, until our season plays out. If we have back to back 10 win seasons and a playoff berth, it will bring out the real hidden Miami haters. Their are a whole lot of us on this board that have no idea what that looks like.
Oh, and Pollock knows what positions are the money makers. For all he knows, Cantwell will be our LT, so he knows better.

This is why all the conference re-alignment is funny to me. No way schools like Miami, Texas Tech, SMU should be overlooked.

They aren’t being overlooked, they’re just so far behind financially. It may not matter in the short term, but those other schools are NIL competitive right now and getting $20 million more per year. That’s way more sustainable than schools that aren’t in the Power 2.

It's more about what they aren't saying. Casting stones in a glass house as if their schools weren't doing far worse when it wasn't legal.

Sec and Bama were using bags long before Saban.
Bama should have gotten death penalty for infractions while under probation pre Saban, but one of the boosters being investigated conveniently fell down a flight of stairs.

Don't forget he (allegedly) fell down the flight of stairs, walked back up the stairs, took a shower, got in the bed, and THEN died. Definitely accidental. LOL
