SEC Homers Mental Gymnastics: Alabama loss to FSU

On3 Bama class rankings:
2022: #2
2023: #1
2024: #2
2025: #3

Makes you wonder a bit about the quality of the recruiting services rankings.
Also makes the case that you are way better off with a proven Transfer than even a 4 star recruit who is going to be a bust 50% of the time. Ditto and even moreso for the QB position . Give me a transfer who has proven it at the college level over any 5 star QB out of HS.

Great point! The services all pander to the SEC too. Any player that commits to Bama or UGA as a sophomore or junior always has a meteoric rise in the rankings. Kids who commit to us usually drop…

100%. But here’s the challenge with that — now it’s obvious to EVERYONE the QB needs reps. So the cost of top QBs in the portal is going to skyrocket. Lots of teams are going to be left without a chair when the music stops.

Gonna turn into FCS or "lesser" programs gonna be a place where QBs out of high school SHOULD go to get experience and then their last two years get paid in bigger programs.

I posted a few months back that our NIL deals should require Coleman and Nickel to go play for FIU, FAU or some other program then boomerang back to us for the payout.. still believe that.

Is this a testament to FSU and their play today, or an indictment of Bama being grossly overrated?
Both. Parity in college football is at an all time high… but Bama isnt “Bama” anymore. QB play is lacking.

If I were a coach in NCAA especially in the case of Mario, you have FAU and FIU, down the street, basically have a binding agreement with them and use them as a farm team for 2 years and pop them up later on to stash.

Guys like Minaya, Russell, and names you mentioned.

And you lend them coaching assistance and recruiting expertise, have similar terminology and can even use some facilities.

It's crazy this has never been done anywhere before. I'm not sure but I don't there are any rules against it.

Interesting idea but why go to FAU or FIU and have to wait to transfer to Miami?

Especially with rosters expanded to 105.

What I would like to see is ‘preseason games’ against FCS and bottom feeder FBS teams instead of regular season games. Have BCC or FAMU or whomever come down for a pair of controlled games. Maybe one in the spring and another in fall camp. Controlled from the point of trying to avoid injuries. The offense and defense have somebody else to practice against. Might help be better prepared for season openers. There’s no benefit to Miami beating BCC 56-0 Week 2.
