SEC Fanboy Paul F fighting with Mad Dog on ESPN

Chris Russo aka Mad Dog is just another loud mouth. He made his chops via NY sports radio show "Mike and the Mad Dog" with another annoying loudmouth Mike Francesa and into MLB radio via ESPN.

I have no clue why he's talking college football. I guess he's the loud mouth replacement for Skip Bayless. I just find him annoying and can't stand his whining accent.

I hate the whole “havent been relevant since the 80’s” MFer you talking about us right now!!

2017 we were 2nd in the playoff rankings for a week (before pitt game)

2020 we were a top 10 team leading into the final week against UNC

And Mario “ill slap the **** outta you” Cristobal dominated all off season.

These talking heads act like we’re Colorado with the “havent been relevant since yester year” bull****.
It doesn't matter. The only things that matter are now and in the future.

When we win a bunch of games and get inside the top 10 in on field rankings, they'll be saying, "Miami is finally relevant again."

I could care less. Just win on and off the field.

Of course Finebaum has to throw in the Mario would be next at Bama.

Ears must not know about John Ruiz

New York sports media talking heads know less than zero about college football. Stick to complaining about the Knicks.
This times 1,000...

NY sports talk guys only care about Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Jets, Giants, Islanders & Rangers, they don’t know or give two-sh*ts about College Football in general.

And Mad Dog Russo in particular, is primarily a Baseball guy

Well I guess even Paul F on ESPN like CB at Miami. But who the **** is this Mad Dog on ESPN.... Some one needs to tell him that Satan suck at MSU before ALB.

"The 1980's was the last time Miami was relevant..." I think this guy Mistook His Wife For A Hat. A lot is missing here...

Not to derail the thread into a basketball discussion, but if you’re top five in accomplishments, isn’t that what it’s all about? Bill Russell‘s accomplishments are insane.

NBA discussions always lean heavily towards individual skill and era, so when compared to other individuals I can see why he gets left off. Nobody can take the awards and rings away though.

Alright I’m going to do one response and that’s it so as not to derail this thread. This is just a question for you to ponder. Had Russell been born in the 90s, and had the benefit of modern nutrition, weight training, and advanced coaching, how do you think he would’ve fared versus today’s player.

Think about the type of coaching and training he got during his era, which would be I guess late 50s into the 60s. Shlt, more than a few professional players in several sports smoked like chimneys in those days. It was also a different time for African-Americans, they didn’t get the benefit of the type of training and coaching, as rudimentary as it probably was back then, than other players that came from more advantaged means.

In my opinion today he would’ve still been a top-notch NBA player. I realize that is speculation, but so is saying he couldn’t make it today. Just something to ponder before we get sidetracked here anymore.

It's always good to read a bio of someone in the media to find out what they are running away from...Rich kid from Syossett, Long Island (LI) who was sent to the Darrow boarding/college prep school (so no real LI Public School Billy Joel/Gerry Cooney toughness). College Prepped so well he got into a private schools in Florida, but the wrong one, Preppy Rollins in Winter Park, so maybe the rough stuff for him was South OBT strip clubs. Went to talk station WKIS where he rubbed Gene Burns' bunnions, then fooled Don Imus into giving his a chance as "Mad Dog."

Total fake

Bet a BIG cup of coffee that ESPN Screecher - wears his shorts backwards.

He's also got a mouth as loose as a San Francisco sphincter.

He was a skilled technician who happen to be a great athlete. That fits in any era, but the Celtics were a dynasty in a watered own league, so i think his accomplishments would have been diminished if you try to project him in another era. That's really my only point. If you put the top 10 players in the last 20 years into the 50's they'd be gods.

Thank God NY doesn’t have a good CFB team, they’re already unbearable sports fans.

just wow what did I see on the $ec network?

Mad Dog’s former partner was the guy who was most apoplectic about UM‘s thrashing of Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
As mentioned above, NYC people have less than zero interest in college football, and to them college basketball was ruined when the old big East fell apart because their knowledge of even basketball only stretched from Syracuse to Georgetown.

Of course Finebaum has to throw in the Mario would be next at Bama.
You got it. Francesa is a piece of garbage of a broadcaster. He thought he knew everything about every sport. He was the biggest ND diksucker. All he thought about UM was that they were a bunch of inner city thugs. He wouldn’t miss a chance to get on his soapbox. He was incredibly rude and condescending to callers. I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did solo when Mad Dog left. He should stick to talking about horse racing.

The guy maintains that Bob Cousy would be a star in the NBA today… I know it’s partly an act, but he’s also extremely delusional
