Searles and Richt's play calling created a false perception about our current OL

The perception is that we don't have talented enough players to have a decent to slightly good OL. Not true.

We've recruited good talent for the OL, we just haven't trained that talent. With a new O staff, a new S&C coach and 8 months to get ready, there is no reason why our 2019 OL cannot be at least above average and consistent. With our D and playmakers on O, and with a scheme that takes all of those things into account, there's no reason for our OL to take a massive step forward this year and I predict it will.
Yes and no. Crap play calling and terrible coaching and lack of development in the weight room definitely did them no favors, but we were unable to recruit many true tackles, putting players out of position constantly and automatically putting in subpar upperclassmen over more talented, higher upside younger kids. We need to expand our o line recruiting board and focus strongly on true tackles.

If only your well-intentioned comments were true.

Coach Richt's play calling did not stop the O-Line from getting any push. It did not force the O-Linemen to specialize in matador perfect ¡Olé! blocks. It did not force the offensive linemen from missing basic blocking assignments, after basic blocking assignments. It did not force them into regular illegal motion penalties. It did not...

The reality is over the past two years's the offensive line play was high powered putrid and would have been so no matter what offensive scheme was run.

The fairytale that a different offensive scheme would have made the offensive line better started on this message board and has been parroted countless time, yet it can be repeated countless more times, but it still will not be true.

Hopefully, the new Offensive Line Coach will soon make all of the above a distant memory.

Really,have you ever been to Madison,Wisc.or is this a WAY(wild *** guess)?Wisc.
has more bars per capita than any state fueled by at least 25+breweries!
Been to Milwaukee for work (obv). First thing you see at the airport is drink wisconsibly sweatshirts and T-shirts. It is bar after bar. They do like their brews.

Our interior line could be dominant. Donaldson is a beast RG, Reed could be a beast LG and Gaynor a beast C. They need to really have a great offseason... OT though has been trash. Hopefully Kennedy & Scaife are the answers.
how is gaynor a beast?

While our oline is better than it appeared play calling has nothing to do with getting pushed around and not being physical enough to assert some dominance every solitary time were in short yardage possessions
I understand your point but couldn't the change from zone blocking to staight up man vs man drive blocking make a significant difference?

There's no doubt as we go forward that the OL needs to be right after QB in terms of priority on offense, even more so than WRs, TEs, and RBs. IF we can get a smart QB, keep him clean and open up holes, everything will fall into place irrespective of who we have at RB, WR, or TE. We need smart, motivated, violent guys on the OL.

Our o-linemen have to get their **** together. Part of the problem was scheme and coaching, but that wasn't the only problem. I like that Manny is preaching accountability, because these guys have to take it upon themselves to get in better shape

We haven't seen hardly anything of what our line is capable of. The last coaches played the likes of Mahoney instead of our blue chip recruits. Cleveland Reed, John Campbell, DJ Scaife, Navaughn Donaldson, KaiLeon Herbert, Zach Dykstra, Zalontae Hillery, and Corey Gaynor. What have we actually seen out of any of these players? The two who have gotten meaningful snaps are moved around from position to position and had to play in hands down the most predictable offense in NCAAF. With these guys, impact graduate transfers, and new coaches I fully expect our O-Line to be drastically better next year.

It's been a reoccurring theme for a while now. Highly regarded high school linemen come to Miami and never improve. At some point you have to stop assuming EVERY SINGLE PLAYER is a bust and question coaching.

Yes of course. But it doesn't change their physicality. Only their approach. Zone blocking or not if you dont wanna look like the man on the other side of yous personal bytch on every snap than have some pride and put someone on they ***. Dont get mollywopped every time it counts. 3rd and 2 is time to earn your money. Not pray choc is big enough to push through...
