Search your soul and answer honestly: can Richt win a ship?

For the folks naming Coker and Chizik.

Just remember Coker had the greatest team ever assembled.
Chizik had arguably the greatest college football talent of the last 20-30 years (Newton) and a “fresh” Malzahn. Look at Chizik’s performance without those two folks. Pretty clear that they carried him in 2010.

Tried searching for my soul, but my stomach blocked my view.
But that's OK, haven't seen my pinga in 17 years because of stomach.
I can see my toes when I lift my feet though.

Speaking of which, what’s the story behind your avi. There must be one and I missed it.

Not much of a story there.
There was one night/day where a bunch of pro-gheyTurd posts were being made, often linking to their
stupid recruiting articles, and this guy's mug kept popping up.
So decided to use him as my avi.
LOL.

Yep easiest path to the ACCCG as we will now have a unreal talent edge in our favor compared to our coastal mates... Then he faces the juggernaut of probably the 3 toughest games being Clemson that year(if its not a down year for them), followed by the two playoff games.

We just got boot stomped by PITT....just sayin'.

Boot stomped or had a QB who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn

Nope. History is on my side. He has won zero at this point and never played for it. He had the talent at UGA but ****ed it away.

Keep ignoring his 4 game losing streak last year and 3 game this year.

He struggled a lot this year against half *** teams. Dudes an average bum at this juncture of his career. Burned out from always losing big games.

He's another teams thrown out trash. But hip hip hooray, he's here.

We haven’t won 10 games in a season since 03 or 04.... richt did it on a team with what 67 scholarships , malik rosier starting , and with major injuries on the offensive side of the ball and was still only 1 game a away from a playoff birth

****, I just don't know how folks keep blinding themselves to this very poignant fact! Look what Richt did with an average roster. A handicap at QB, lack of depth on both sides of the ball and on STs. We need to stop looking at Clemson & Bama and comparing them to our team "this year." We were never ever close to that level of skill and depth going into this season. Folks get blinded by the glimmer in their eyes that saw us at 10-0 with a chance to win the ACC and get a playoff birth. They fail to see how we barely squeaked by putrid teams such as UNC.

I am flat out amazed by the job the coaching staff did this year with half a roster of Folden specials.

For perspective, we still had these players on the roster:

- Jahir Jones, McCray, Knowles, Choc, Fines, Milo, McDonuts, Darling, Shirrefs, Testaverde, etc.

He’s a big boy.

Looks like about a d-cup.

Did not read anything other than the title of the post but to answer that question:

Yes. With a good defense and the right QB. Gene Chisick won a national title for craps sake.

If we consistently keep the best of the "State of Miami" at home for 2-4 years in a row, it is highly likely CMR will win at least one MNC. If we supplement the best players from the State of Miami with elite talents from the Southeast, TX and CA (as we did in the 80s & 90s & 2000-2005), we will be totally back.

CMR understands the blueprint that made Miami great in the 80s (he was a part of many great Miami teams). He knows how our athletes should be used on defense. He can recruit at elite levels. He is driven. He will win big here.

Richt was my #1 choice for Miami even before he left Georgia and became available. I wanted Richt more than Chip Kelly or Gruden or any of the other big name coaches that dudes on Canesport would talk about.

Dude was made for this job.

Mark Richt is one of the truly elite coaches in college football. His record speaks for itself.

He's proving me right, too. He won the Walter Camp Coach of the Year award this year.... and earned every bit of it for winning 10 games with a totally depleted roster. He's recruiting like an absolute beast.

If he finishes out this recruiting class with just the guys we lead with - Nesta, Briggs, Chatman, Chatfield, Ezzard, Goss, and possibly Campbell - that will be a top 3 class and it will blow away everybody else in the ACC by a mile.

He's building a champion here. Anyone who knows what they're looking at can tell you that. It's going to be very bad news for the rest of college football.

Love this.

He won 11 games this year with a baseball player at QB. Also that baseball player broke the TD record. Wait til he gets a real QB. Going to be so fun. People think we need this shutdown D too. We don't. If you force To's like we do & have an ACTUAL QB it's VERY hard to get beat with all those extra possessions.

Nice man, decent man, consistent, and a very good coach but I’m not sure he’s championship Caliber at a Miami level. Some will call me a troll and that’s fine, but I have concerns. I think the guy is a 9-10 win coach -which is AWESOME if you’re Michigan or Georgia, but Miami is just different. That won’t work here.

I WANT to believe, but I just don’t know. I see many things that’s concerning (schottenheimer styled playcalling, mediocre defense)

Search your soul and speak the truth.

What you are saying is he hit his ceiling in year 2. This is before seeing how this and the next year's recruiting classes pan out. This self entitled BS needs to stop. You are following a program that won its first bowl game in a decade during Richt's first year. If you can't enjoy the University of Miami improving its record, then find another team. Not every coach is Nick Saban.

Only if we reach Top 5 level consistently in terms of recruiting and preseason ratings. The low end of that range, like the 4 and 5 teams, typically are assigned odds like 7-1 or 8-1 to win the title.

So that is logically manageable if Richt coaches another decade or more.

However, if we get stalled in the current range closer to 9 or 10th on the preseason rankings and preseason odds list, that is more like 20-1 or 25-1 odds in a typical year.

Theoretically you are 3 times less likely to win a title from the #10 slot than the #4 or #5 slot. That's an easy way to look at it.

My answer is No. I don't expect a Canes national championship under Richt. But I don't make it as much of an underdog as a year ago.

I opening an online casino, and giving you the exclusive first look. I will take all your action, hard money though, no credit.
