likely doesn’t get a replacement. There are guys off field that work with the DBs too but if Jefferson gets promoted my guess is he will still coach the nickels

Word on the street is that the cb coach search is down to 2 or possibly 3 or at most 4-5 targets, unless the board expands. Some names I have heard from my unimpeachable sauces include, Don Zimmer, William Perry, Cecil Fielder, and the 1987 Denver Broncos. I have been assured this will be wrapped up before spring practice starts, unless things drag on, in which case it could extend into this week, or possibly into the summer. The timeline mostly depends on the rotation of Jupiter and it's alignment with Venus. Stay tooned.

Coaches were jumping around jobs in 2025 late into the summer. As frustrating as it is for us fans, just think of the HCs and ADs who have to respond to these situations. So even though if Mario had made a decision weeks ago, it would not have meant much, tbh.

Better to get the right guy in the building than just getting a guy with a resume (see Gattis, Kevin Steele, and Charlie Strong).

I know Peter is freaking out about the process, but Terry Jefferson is a great interim for now. Mario can continue to look for the right fit - maybe it's Jefferson anyway - but there's no rush now in March/April. Get the right guy in here mid to late April and no harm is done.

I’m good with Jefferson. Mario and heatherman may not want to mess with the chemistry of the Defense and staff as a whole. They know Jefferson fits and the DB room should be able to police themselves.
