Search for New Position Coaches

I haven’t seen a consolidated thread focused solely on the search for new position coaches.

Pete mentioned a couple of interesting tidbits on this morning’s podcast. First, there might be more moves pending. Will Harris was the most likely departure given his publicized interests in the past. To be clear, this was mostly speculation, so don’t misconstrue this point as gospel.

Lastly, Pete said we missed on our top candidate already for one of the opening spots (either a RB coach or TE coach). No names were mentioned.

While D$ wasn’t remotely concerned, Pete did express some ajida over how long Mario’s searches generally take and the urgency of spring football and recruiting.

Any whispers on who me might have missed out on?

All I know from the last few years - if Mario has to find a coach - we'll be lucky to have slots filled before August.

Maybe Halloween.

Legit question… why? I my opinion, he failed to identify and develop players at FSU…also reported as a lazy recruiter… why would you pick him?
I can believe it. To me it’s hard for successful nfl guys to coach and recruit at the level Mario expects.

I think he gives Dawson a pass but he expects better from him gameplan wise so we’ll see this year.

I think Mario has learned to not chase the big name veteran coaches cause they definitely not working hard (see Kevin Steele, strong, etc).

He is probably going after the DB coach at Minnesota…that makes sense.

If not he’ll go after someone young but not too young…. At a lower p4 program that’s hungry and looking to supercharge his coaching trajectory.

You think Raymond is working hard at LSU now? You think an established Seider wants to work for Mario now?

The head coaches at the programs they are at won’t work them as hard and they’ll get paid the same.

It should be Surtain or Corey Bell (Mississippi State Cornerbacks Coach). Bell is a Florida native who has deep ties and is an excellent coach. Miss. State got some dogs in that secondary.

Have Also heard Monroe from Minnesota as a name mentioned but he's mentioned every year.

Bring us Bell or Surtain, don't overthink it.

Content strategy.. Him and D$ flip flop on good cop bad cop dynamic.. Pete is just a spazz or on spectrum so he just OD his role and then read comments and entrench himself even more

Thats almost every other episode lol..
I was wondering the same thing. Do they purposely do the good cop/bad cop shtick where D Money is always over positive and Panicky Pete just loses his **** every week?

Good points, especially finding young rising coaches who have worked for good coaching staffs.
Good coaching staffs doesn't necessarily exclude schools that are not perennial top10 programs.
Find and hire those candidates before they get poached by big school or NFL.
