Playing 2 high safety against a QB who refuses to take his check downs gives you the exact outcome we had in 24 vs FSU. A dominant, ugly run game. Their isn't a single thing that Surtain did at FSU that was impressive and that would be giving him a pass. What I will give him a pass on is recruiting because how could anyone recruit their right now? Surtain gets some credit with Kennon, but FSU was his dream school that his sister was attending. Their DB's were not good(kindness).

Not a coach who was just let go by FSU because he couldn’t develop the highly sought out guys in his room and someone who has more than 3 years of P4 coaching experience. As well, he was let go because he couldn’t adapt to the defense philosophy of the DC there. People should really do their homework about what went wrong with Surtain at FSU.

I want someone who has coached in this system. This DB room, particularly the CB room is a supercharged Ferrari ready to go…this room should be given to a proven commodity who can gel inside our Defensive coaching room.

I would have given a blank check to Nick Monroe, Rod Ojong, Mark Orphey as a start. Other names Aazaar Abdul Rahim who has extensive P4 experience and crossovered with Mario at bama. Corey Raymond, people will say he’s washed but he’s projected to have another corner he mentored go in the top 15 of the draft. Torrian gray.

Wasn't he dismissed by Norvell due to getting a black eye from the guy? Allegedly....

He teased the Guidry hire a few years ago the day before it was announced, for whatever that’s worth.

I’m eh on Surtain and think we can and should do a little better but ultimately I trust Hetherman and believe our defense will be fine either way.
