It was called Nickel, I think....
Off topicish but whenever I see striker I always imagine Roy Williams from OU woulda been really suited for that...still cant believe he got drafted ahead of Reed lmao
....as well as a number of positions on offense. There will never be another ST26No, he would not be a sub packaged safety in today’s game. He was the ultimate “eraser”. U keep him deep. But yes he would’ve excelled in that role too. Sean could’ve been AA at every position in the secondary.
Safety
He would have been a safety for sure.
Ray Ray Armstrong would have been a striker.
You're most likely right, I cant remember if Dallas kept him like that or a traditional safety.I belive thats the position he played essentially.
Wasn't Williams a rover?
Man, I always thought Ray Ray Armstrong was just a full-blown underachiever—if we're handing out titles here.
He was the player you never wanted to take off the field. Safety -- no problem. In the box to head hunt -- brutal. Got WR tearing you up, move him to corner -- wait for the blood to flow. Punts? Pick sixes? Ask St. Bobby. Pick whatever name you want. The only thing standing ih his way as Cane GOAT are one Ed Frigging Reed and The Mad Stork himself. Any other program, ST is GOAT by a mile. No, he would not be a sub packaged safety in today’s game. He was the ultimate “eraser”. U keep him deep. But yes he would’ve excelled in that role too. Yeap. Striker/Rover/Star are basically all the same. My HS ran a 3-3-5 stack defense and called it a rover. I played that position for a year before moving to Mike. I would line up on the outside shoulder of an in-line TE or split the difference between the T and closest WR to the strong side if no TEWell he was a hall of fame safety so I think that answers that.
By the way I'm pretty sure the "striker" isnt some new innovation. It was around during his time in college it was just called something else.
I dont really understand the question. Youre talking about the best safety ever. His hips, instincts, ball skills, speed, size ... why would you take him out of the safety spot?R.I.P first and far most...I was having a conversation with a fellow cane fan and good friend of mine, if he was in college today striker or safety? The thought of him as a striker in today’s game whew! He’d be perfect. What you guys think?
My thoughts exactly. Why debate excellence.I dont really understand the question. Youre talking about the best safety ever. His hips, instincts, ball skills, speed, size ... why would you take him out of the safety spot?
Are you a corrections officer?Met Mike Vick and spent a few days with him thru my work. Asked him who the best safety he ever played against, he didn’t even have to think and said without a doubt Sean Taylor. And this is a guy who played against Ed Reed, Polamalu, Dawkins, Roy Williams, all the greats from 2001 on.
Are you a corrections officer?
Are you a Dog trainer??Lmao no.
