I cannot believe Ward didn't make that list. Wow. ... Overall point stands that we upgraded our roster bigtime. Let's go stuff Billy back in a locker.

He's being knocked by his QBR and Wazzou's record last year. Rivals put out a top 10 returning QBs in CFB list and Ward wasn't on there either. smh

the takeaway for me is we may be underselling brown ...

Houston QB did him no favors, he would underthrow, not lead and make him jump for screen balls (pause). Still got pretty good numbers. I think Sam Brown will be the WR that will show the fans what a WR should look like here at Miami. One thing I am worried about is Ward, I think people are hyping him a little too much. Hopefully he allows his talent around him succeed and he doesn't try to do too much.
That I worry about a bit. The minute he fumbles trying to "do too much," this board will be all over him. He definitely has very good talent around him. Get the ball into the hands of X, Brown, George, Martinez, et al and let them make the plays.

Hyped for Sam Brown. WRs need to block in this offense. Ward at QB, a healthy Arroyo, Brown with the other speed receivers and Restrepo in the slot. Martinez (Flecher?) in the backfield. Should be a whole different vibe on O.

We’re loaded other than the secondary, which is no better than average.

Ok. FSU went 13-0 last year with no better than average linebackers. Washington went to the championship game with no better than average **** near everything on defense.

Why does Miami need 22 all-americas to have a good season? I’m not saying this team has to go undefeated and beat everyone by 30 to live up to the talent. But show me every Top 10 team the past god knows how many seasons and I’ll show you in July before the year, they had question marks at a group or two. It’s college football, this **** gets turned over quick. If we lose a game 41-38 because an opposing QB had 450 yards passing on us with receivers just running past our DBs or the safeties can’t tackle a soul, I’ll tip my cap. But come on, this is the worst schedule I’ve seen in 20 years. Win 10 or GTFO, for real. And this comes from the biggest Mario Stan alive.

Also, for the record, Daryl Porter Jr. is much better than average. I know there’s other dudes back there too and they gotta come to play, but that’s a pretty good start. You know who’s no better than average in the secondary for real? The ******* gator. So go whip their ***.

im confident in guidry

Me too, but what if I told you our offense was better than our defense last year by almost every single metric, and 3 of the 13 games were started by Emory Williams or Jacurri Brown?

Except one REALLY big one, which was turnovers. Was the story of the entire season. But Dawson coordinated a pretty efficient offense play-to-play, and everyone kinda ***** on him and talks glowingly about Guidry.

I get it though, I like Guidry a lot too. Year 2 should bring a big bump for him as well. I’m excited as **** for the defense and I don’t think anyone would tell you it’s got more talent than the offense. Again…no reason AT ALL to not be a very good football team.

There were times Dawson looked brilliant, and other times Guidry looked brilliant. They were also outsmarted at times. Louisville made Guidry look silly in much of the second half, for example. A lot of that can be excused by TVD on offense, and our decimated DL and mediocre DBs and CB on defense. But I don't think we'll truly know if we've got the right coordinators until we see how they perform this year with our dramatically improved roster.

IMO, the offense is (much) further along than the defense which is why I feel the pressure is more on Dawson. At the same time, I do feel like Guidry should have rattled the cage for more portal talent at DT and DB, so I kind of feel that's on him. Net/net, both those guys have to produce at a very high level. And if they do, both those guys can write their tickets over the next several years. It's showtime!
