On that play J Smith is expecting Scott to mirror him.
But the truth is, OSU gave tells that it was a screen. First, it was a 4 x 0 alignment which means any pass has to come that way (no eligible on the other side).
The 1 WR, closest to sideline, is sitting back on his right foot (typically you weight to left). Smith steps down as if to block, as the DB always steps down there as well.
Only Scott read those keys and knew it was a screen and shot the gap.
