Schools Scheduling their own TV contracts exclusive of conference TV Deal

I think this is very smart. With so many streaming platforms you need to be first to do this and capitalize on the big money.

I’d love to see us create a new OOC game in football soon on prime. But I’m also not sure how espn and its contract with the ACC allows for this.

Need to schedule us some games on CBS so we can hear that theme song before our games again. Best one in all of sports imo (behind the old ESPN college football theme of course).

If Duke did it, then there must be a way. They’re under the same contract, no?

For sure.

Just the spectre of that happening provides an incredible amount of leverage for the B1G and SEC.

ESPN and FOX don't want to do anything that causes a rift with (by far) the most valuable properties outside the NFL in American sports

Football won’t happen until the conferences fall apart and the big boys form a super league.

It has been reported the Michigan vs Ohio State game could get $80-100 million as a standalone. Crazy they could make more off one game than what the ACC pays out for a season.

And both Conferences may already have built in relationships with each streamer and have let their media partners know this is the plan so get with the program or lose out. The added inventory with a 24 team CFP will also add to this. Especially with the sport looking to diversify partners to extract most value similar to NFL model instead of allowing espn to monopolize. 2030 and lead up to it will have a ton of horse trading.
