This is typical of the officiating we get during the regular season, and especially against physically overmatched teams. It just better never cost us a game.
The playoff officiating will let the guys play more without officials acting like concerned parents for the teams we beat. Hopefully when we play Clemson, FSU and ND, the officials will back off and let guys play.

He pushed off because the defender had hands on him and wasn’t turning to look at the ball. Believe PI works both ways.

They were awful. The other refs let the teams play and don't call stupid penalties for no reason. You can tell Mario didn't want to call them out in the press conference but I would be shocked if he didn't have a few words for them privately.

This is why I constantly harp on us needing to play fast on offense. The games where we’ve lost or had nail biters we’ve played slow, let officials cancel out drives/plays and before we know it we’ve had 6 possessions and it’s going into the 4th quarter of a 1 score game. Because we will have a large talent advantage until we get to the playoffs, we need to extend games not shorten them.

We are definitely playing faster this season than last season, especially after successful pass plays.
The 1:30 offense to end the first half was pretty awesome. With all the penalty yardage included I think we covered about 120 yards.

I don’t know how many times I have to say it? You cannot take guys that have watched their favorite team get the crap kicked out of them by Miami forever and then put them in a position of power and not expect for **** like this to happen.

I'm not sure people outside of South FL understand this. I moved to Gulf Coast, AL 11 years ago. When people find out I am a Miami fan, the number of guys who are in the age range of these refs immediately mention Thug U and have not moved on from something that was was 30+ years ago is crazy to me. They completely ignore Alabama has had more arrests and incidents than Miami in that time frame too. "They really needed to clean things up down there. It was really bad at one point." Whenever I tell them they are talking about something 30 years ago and provide them with statistics showing Bama has been dirtier they have no comeback and just laugh. Since Miami was so mediocre for so long they didn't pay attention to them, so they just revert back to the 90s

And on the reviewed TD, I thought Toney reached the ball out outside of the pylon. Didn't have a major issue with that one. That OPI on the other one was one of the worst I have ever seen. You could almost see the disgust in the refs face when Toney made the catch and got his feet down

Stating the level of officiating is subpar in the conference is not the same as stating there is a conspiracy at the conference leadership level to keep only one school as the power in the league. In fact, if there was such a conspiracy and Miami is the "chosen" school, wouldn't they be on the favorable end of all the calls?

I, and others presented data last year showing that ACC officials were calling significantly less penalties on Miami's opponents in relation to every other ACC team's opponents. That's not simple incompetence. That showed a pattern. This season, the trend appears to be reversing, as the Canes have gotten more holding calls in the first four games than we have the past half dozen seasons.
