This is a real schedule. We need to get back to playing tough opponents instead of cupcakes if we want to get better and get top recruits. We would probably go 9-3/ 8-4 with this schedule. Recruits want to play in big games.

They play that schedule because they are Texas’ little brother. Big time power schools play one tough non conference game and rarely travel out of conference outside of that one tough home and home. It’s tome to leave the 80’s where they belong.

We were great in the 80’s and we would play anyone anywhere. We are all still here after 15 years of mediocrity because we believe that we will somehow get back to being dominant again. You don’t attract top recruits by playing Central Michigan and FIU.

Texas A&M has a big game? Where?

It only a big game if both teams are good and playing for something. Not when just 1 of the teams is playing for bowl eligibility. aka 2017 Vt or ND.

That’s not a bad schedule.

3 top 10 teams
Yea..point is schedules are made years ahead of time nowadays so it’s nearly impossible to tell the future of rankings. We have Michigan st to start off the year in 2020. When that was in the works they were a top 10-15 program . Then in 2021 we have Bama and mich st..the problem is a lot of top programs don’t like to schedule home and home non conference vs other talented programs. It’s not a Miami problem

We played 5 ranked teams in 2001. FSU and the last 4. Not all of them ended up in top 25 at end of season though.

I agree but we definitely know that Central Michigan and FIU aren’t going to be ranked in the top 10 ever.

You pointed out a schedule In which Texas A&M got unlucky with their conference cross overs and 2 other teams in their division that they play yearly anyways. They also scheduled this home and home with Clemson back in 2014 when Clemsoning was alive and well. It would be like scheduling Kentucky after a few 10 win seasons and saying fvck, they're actually a top 5 team still 5 years later.

This is an epically bad take man. We played a total dog**** schedule year in and out when we were in the Big East and kids were lining up to play here.

Unfortunately we've been cupcake level for a while now. Want us to get good enough to compete at the level we all want.

Our non-conference schedule is going to get more interesting in the coming years.
