The article concerns last year's UGA vs. UF game and how after struggling mightily offensively in previous games (sound familiar) Richt decided to inexplicably switch QBs and go with Faton Bauta (who never played) for their biggest rivalry game.

What's frightening ? The Dawgs pretty much ran the same Offense, despite Baton being a totally different QB and got creamed. The article also mentions some of the same exact struggles we've been having this season (right down to the drops).

That **** stubbornness is a killer.

If we ran this exact same offense with Rosier, I don't think it would be as bad as Brad. Much...Much less deep passes would be completed, but quick pass game and RPO would probably be more effective...Assuming the WR's decide to catch the ball at one point.

All I got out of that article is that Jack Daniels is still an A-1 prime Miami hater and will say anything to rundown the canes and their coaches, and that UGA had 3 bums at QB last year. Other than that, zip, nada.

His decision to suddenly insert Bauta against their biggest rival is likely what got him fired. It showed almost an unbelievable disregard for the importance of the UF game. And Bauta was very clearly unprepared to succeed on that stage. Giant head scratcher.

It was a crapshoot, a blind swing for the fences, between 3 really bad choices. Yes, it was a head scratcher and a fail from Rick and Schottenheimer, but whoever they would have played, odds are pretty certain they still lose, and Rick is still gone.

To me that's nothing new. That was out there already

The takeaway to me is that Jack Daniels still a major ****.

There was no excuse for that UGA team to lose to that UF team quarterbacked by Treon Harris. Teams, not even good ones, were beating on that UF team with Harris at QB. It's a bit disingenuous to claim that UGA QBs who took the reps all year would have been anywhere near as bad as Bauta was.

The QB situation is a recruiting failure, which is on the coach as well. The major take away is what we're seeing right now is nothing new and the kind of things we were warned about by UGA die hards. Richt will frustrate you.

UGA fans last season: "QB doesn't have it. Just wait til' Eason gets here."
UM fans this year: "QB doesn't have it. Just wait til' Perry gets here."

Yeah. They failed badly with Ramsey. And they had other QB failings that led them to have to get UVA scraps in Lambert in a desperate attempt to salvage the QB situation. Inserting Bauta out of nowhere, especially in their biggest rivalry game, was nuts.

Well, at least UGA fans can accurately point to a few really good QBs in Richt's time there. Shockley, Stafford, and Murray all made the "let's hope the next QB is really good!" idea not at all farfetched. Unlike what we've brought in at QB the last 15 years and how those kids panned out.

Funnily enough, Richt's most successful QB at the College level was Nick Marshall --

Who played CB for him.

Richt kicked him off of the squad at UGA.

He transferred to Auburn. Malzahn converted him to QB and he took them to the NC (should be won it, too).

Treon Harris, as a placeholder QB for their placeholder offense, had better results than any of those UGA QBs. The ufagg offense, and Treon, were total ****, but they did just enough to not ***** up and let that stellar defense take over most games, since they lost only 2 regular season games before they played bama for the title.

My entire point is that all that Fauta stuff discussed in the article was talked about ad naseaum before and after that game, the article brought no new insights or info, other than Jack Daniels still remains a complete Miami hater loved by his HS reporter lapdog, Matt Porter.

You can justifiably fault Rick and Schott as much as you want for that questionable decision, which was a blind ***, no-look, swing for the fences,
but I honestly believe the way that offense was playing (which is on the coaches as well) that the starting QB wouldn't have mattered against that ufagg defense. Either way, the article was a rehash...nothing new, nothing more that wasn't discussed at the time

I mean I get the Rick criticism, it's justified, but Stanford and Murray, among others, say hello.

Marshall is what he is. A system scattershot QB that you can only insert in specialized offenses like Malzahn's.

I believe Florida was 10-2 in the regular season with only losses to FSU and LSU. I know Harris wasn't QB the whole time but Florida was a pretty good team.

Except for the fact that Rosier sucks.
Kaaya is a good qb who needs solid protection to succeed. He just isn't very good under pressure. People need to stop acting like he's a terrible qb or like Richt is a terrible play caller.

It really is surprising that so many people really thought that Richt was just going to fix everything in a year. A lot of players quite frankly just kinda suck. But A lot of young guys are getting valuable experience for next year, and we are returning some good players. We really need more talent throughout the team, especially on the OL.
