SBNation calling for a forfeit

Lou Holtz just called. He's giving the 1988 title back because Gary's knee was down, no fumble. Says it's been bothering him for years and he wanted to do the right thing. The ND brass concurs, saying its the moral thing to do.

A forfeit removes the win from Miami but it doesn't add a win to Duke. Plus, what's done is done. It's not like the AP and Coaches poll are going to push Duke up the polls due to Miami's generosity. We shouldn't have even been in the game.

Everyone that didn't even watch the game and is just seeing these pictures and tweets and replays need to stfu and watch everything else that was ****** the entire game. Game was over on Burns int and they gave them the chance, 2 more pass interferences later, then they give them a td when the dude didn't even cross the plane. 23-5 tells me everything I need to know. That being the number of penalties against us.

With that many penalties if I were a coach on the other side and my team was in that situation close enough to lose the game like that.. I would be ok with it. Game shouldnt be close if the other team has 200 yards of penalties. So **** you Cutcliffe

Whats so great about this is how its bringing out all the smallness and hate of people that resented the most dominant force in football EVER in the 80's and 90's.We played for 8 national championships in an 11 year span. No one will EVER repeat that again.

we will

Tell ESPN to give us back the Terry Porter injustice AS WELL AS the Cleveland Gary "fumble that wasn't" ....and we'll forfeit the Duke win.

Otherwise....go **** yourself.

When the 1988 Irish, the 2002 Buckeyes and the 1972 USSR basketball team forfeit their respective games, then I might agree!

A forfeit would reverse the outcome. In a forfeit, you lose and the other team wins. I believe you are thinking of the dreaded "vacating" of a win. Vacating a win removes your win but does not remove the other team's loss.
