Say what you want, we aren’t that far off from Clemson...

StLouis has struggled big time this year. Scaife is young but he is talented. And yeah, I'll take my chances with Scaife b/c we already know what StLouis can do this year at LT. He's a much better RT. I suppose you can put Scaife in at RT and leave St Louis at LT but he has to get better,

Cool..you're out of your mind though.

No way in **** Clemson is the #3 team in the country, and Dabo knows it. They've got that ranking, but it's Alabama by a huge margin then Georgia and Ohio State.

Clemson has not looked impressive this season. They've still got more talent then us in certain spots, and they have more depth that we are 1-2 years away from compiling. But no reason why we can't give them a close, hard-fought game this year. No reason at all.

Let me preface by saying, I know they kicked our *** last year, I was there. It's not something I am ever going to forget.

Clemson no longer is who everyone thinks they are. Look at what happened to FSU once Winston left, same thing is happening to Clemson after Watson. They had a nice three year run with a transcendent talent at QB. They are still a good, top ten level program, but they are not what the media, their own fans, or even many of you on here thought they were. They are a nice little team experiencing the heyday of their program, which just happens to include a championship every 35 years or so. They are not, never have been, and never will be a true, elite, blue blood perennial power house. When we are ready, we are going to hand them their asses. Are we ready yet? TBD.

Right now..yes.

A freshman has no business going against those 4 monsters that Clemson has.

Agree but I'd like to see us play Scaife more over the next couple of games - so that it gives us more flexibility as to what our starting OL unit can be.

If we get to Charlotte, by that time we will have played 12 games. Nobody's a freshman anymore after we've played 12 games. Who we play on Saturday against FSU should not be determined because we are scared of playing a "freshman" against South Carolina's Agricultural College.

The line that we should be playing is the one that gives us the best chance to win now, and with the best upside when it comes time to play against the big dogs.

Overall, to respond to OP, I think our team is a good two recruiting classes and current roster maturity away from any semblance of what Clamsoup is as a team is. It took Clamsoup a good five years to show up as a consistent contender. Our team is still lacking depth, maturity and in many respects, talent. I’m not saying we don’t have talent, it’s just not blue chip talent in many areas. If the progress over the last two years is any indication, in a year or two we are a top 10 team, year in, year out.

I also recently, out of frustration, talked $#!t about MR Jr. While I still don’t think of him as a top tier QB coach, I think he’s doing a decent job after watching NP perform. Rosier’s shortcomings are, well, just Rosier being Rosier. Also, I forgot in my frustrated state, that CMR’s coaching career is rooted in his background as a QB coach. So I’m sure he’s monitoring what his son does with the QBs. So I think we are on course with QBs in the near future. Of course, this is just my opinion on all this, please feel free to disagree and state your own better informed opinions.

Clemson has been rolling for years and STILL has holes on their roster at several spots, stop putting them on an unreachable pedestal

Miami needs quality depth, which is getting better. They also need to learn how to win bigger games way from home. I think the change at QB will help, since Perry can make them pay for crowding the box to take away the run more consistently than Rosier.
Outside of Thomas, our wide receivers aren’t elite imo. What receiver is elite? Langham? Cager? Harley? Ahmmon doesn’t play? Ole Miss receivers are elite imo, they’re team is just ***.
