Say Mario says no…

My gut says Mario comes home. He knows he can recruit South Florida to a level that he has recruited at Oregon. He knows he'll have a roster that should easily win the Coastal and play for an ACC Championship in 2022. He would have the best QB in the conference and in the top 3 of the entire country. He knows if he wins a national championship in Miami, he'll be a legend forever.

This team is not that far off from competing on the national level with proper coaching and a few more recruits to stack talent and fill some holes.

I say all of this because if I'm Mario, I'm thinking that this is the best opportunity to coach at my alma mater. If I don't do it now, it will probably never happen in my career.

I don't believe Mario says no.

Same way USC was courting Riley for weeks and knew he was ready to leave Oklahoma and wasn't going to say no.

It's all right to go all-in on your first choice, barring you're pretty **** sure there's mutual interest and it's gonna happen.

Those nationally might not get Mario-to-Miami, but those who know this beloved program are well aware the pull for him to leave Oregon for Coral Gables is real. This is his dream job—he just wasn't coming here if UM wasn't investing money in the program, putting football first, getting rid of Blake James, etc.

All of that is happening in real time and we have to believe Mario will take his dream job in the next 72 hours.

If for some reason he has a change of heart, you go all in on Lane Kiffin—who is the opposite kind of guy and hire, but would sell tickets and bring back some swag.

Don't think he's a long-term option like Mario; who can be the closest thing to a Butch Davis as this program has seen in 20 years—but he's not a bad Plan B.

Still, all signs point to Plan A falling into place.

it's becoming more aparent that Mario has said yes and it will probably happen this weekend. If he had said no, Lane would be our coach already.

just speculation.

What isn't speculative is we've sucked for 20 years now.

At the end of the day we should know exactly where we stand as a program over the next week or so. The blueprint for getting the coach you want is out there, keep offering them more until they say yes.

If Mario is the guy and we want to be in the big leagues we are going to have to overpay for him and make that offer one he can not turn down.

If you believe Kiffin is a 1b type or the guy you do the same thing.

If we decide to keep Manny with the way the landscape has changed just this week we are done, finished, it's over.
I over paid for my 2nd wife and i've been extremely happy!

All I know is this; if Manny returns as coach the negativity that will surround this program will be like nothing ever seen before. Begin with that understanding and operate accordingly.
Not if he continues to win. That will burn out all the losers voices.

With Lane he’s the OC. Now we’re hoping to hit 2 home run coordinator hires. And Mario is known to have conservative offenses. It’s just not a good fit with the QB’s we have.

After 20 years of sucking, bring in the Lane Train! With the weapons we have right now on offense it'll be fun af to watch. If he leaves in 3 years so what, hopefully by then we've won enough that its easy to get a top tier replacement.
exactly!! about that time mario might really really wanna come home!!

imo he stays his team pretty loaded themselves gots everything he wants! speaking for only myself I hate going home!! lol

Unfortunatrly I think it is going to be Manny for another year if Mario doesnt want to come.

Mario a real one if does come after this train wreck of an off-season. I'm starting to worry that we might have let a future star out the door. Has some early Dabo vibes ( To be clear I'm talking about the way he carries himself. The way players gravitate to him. Big on family Just love the vibe. No clue what kinda head coach he becomes. Not saying he is on Dabo level as a coach.) Intro to players at SMU.

Mario has already said yes, allegedly.
Allegedly right. This is odd. Saying yes without knowing the details of the contract. Maybe yes in principle but the devil is always in the details. And details of the most important contract in Miami's athletic history is finalized without AD knowledge and approval? Odder.......(is there such a word?)
