I can see the difference: he's having a decent season and the ADHD crowd around here can only focus on what is happening at this very moment. Babers will go down as being just another member of the Miami Fan Flavor of the Month Club, chartered by Kirk Ferentz and Pat Hill.

Remember when Chip Kelly to UF was a done deal?

I see what you do here...

The rumor is already moving quickly and the job isnt even open yet
I live close to Ames - the local media is concerned about Campbell leaving in general. The common opinion/rumor is that happens after next season.

The biggest fear they have is Ohio State, especially if Urban doesn’t leave this year.

They should be more concerned about the league, not OSU. Bob Stoops is rumored for OSU as well.

The jets are talking about him and so are the browns. He’ll be the next CFB to NFL guy if Lincoln jumps or shuts it completely down.

At the moment? Richt over the last decade has averaged 4 Losses/year... with top 5 talent.

I’ll take my chances with any of those flavor of the month coaches. Especially after what we’ve seen here over the last 3 seasons. 3 seasons btw being more than “the moment”.

This is about Babers. Once again, Miami's program doesn't come down to "BABERS or RICHT".

He hasn't had anything close to Top 5 talent here.

But your point is vaild while he was at UGA. Over his last 10 years there he had 37 losses. Dabo has 27, Meyer 17 and Saban 12.

Problem is it's hard to find any tenured coach other than the three mentioned doing much more than Richt did with similar talent. Here are the notable coaches with Top 10 recruiting classes over the las 5 years.

Peterson-20 in 5 at Washington.
Harbaugh-12 in 4 at Michigan.
Franklin-20 in 5 at Penn State.
Kelly-33 in 9 at Notre Dame
Fisher-23 in 8 at FSU
Mazlahn 26 in 6 at Auburn

Rest of the Top 10 recruiting classes over the last 5 years-LSU, Florida, USC and Texas A&M have been total dumpster fires at some point.

Interesting.

That is definitely being talked about too. Hard to really know - like all years there will be attractive jobs at both levels. Would be nice if Miami was one of those.

Dino may have fire but the guy is 57, not really a young coach. He's only a year younger than Mork, but maybe the saying of your only as old as you act really is true.
Pete Carrol is 67 and coaches with 10 times more intensity than Richt. It is about passion not age

You’re the one who brought up flavor of the month coaches:

“Babers will go down as being just another member of the Miami Fan Flavor of the Month Club, chartered by Kirk Ferentz and Pat Hill.”

Bring em on.

There aren’t many coaches tho who have consistent top 5 talent. Probably only about 5, if I had to guess. So he’s you’ll have a small sample size.

But there’s a lot of coaches who don’t have elite talent, yet maintain top 20 programs. We need one of those guys......

Someone with top 20ish teams but average talent. We get that guy, we’ll be ok.
