Okunlola waiting four years to become a full time starter here is one of the most impressive stories in college football. In a world where most players leave immediately if they aren’t starting, Pancake could have left two or three years ago and started for several blue chip programs, but he chose to stay. Now he’s the starting LT with two years of eligibility remaining and almost four years of development under his belt as he continues to chase his NFL dreams.

And, he'll reap the rewards financially going forward into his multiple professional contracts. Then again, it takes a certain level of mindset and disposition to delay gratification the way he has. I hope he continues to play at the level he flashed in last year's playoffs and game 1 of this season.

Sigh, I remember wayy back when he was getting alot of hate and people were pocket watching.. First Oline is already a development position no matter how many stars, tried to explain that him and Mauigoa were different because Mauigoa was at IMG practicing against high talent and in games with Bain and Samson was in north east playing po lil timmy every day. He just needed seasoning and for some reason his Knee injury was never really acknowledged as a stunting of growth.

Then the CIS character assassination machine starts and create narratives and we have guys saying they were at Cal game and Samson gonna transfer because of his face on sideline and he not part of team or team player, he did a whole analysis from teh stands on a player with his back to him.. My gawd :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

Multiple times mentioned he would get crack at tackle and our best bet at LT and was told he a wrestler who torque people and better that McCoy should go out there before him.. Luckily Mirabal knows wassup.. Kid should only get better as he settles in and gets more comfortable. Now the other positions we have to find tape and figure this **** out..

His footwork is amazing. So happy for him that he locked down that LT spot. Now just need the LG to play better no matter who it is thought SJ was weak there but could’ve been just a few plays noticed he whiffed

I been here since before that knee injury. Dude is the truth. He’s Exhibit A that most elite OL take 4-5 years of college to get there.

@88

If you don’t see the difference in footwork requirement between guard and tackle in this clip, you’ll never see it. Samson had to take 2-6 steps to set for pass protection. Guards get 1-4 steps and the strides are significantly shorter.

Have a nice day.

Still on this?

It was you who said “If he doesn't have tackle feet, he sure doesn't have guard feet.” Is it not?

Yes I said that. You've pasted it a couple times now and I've never denied saying it. I did however correct you when you said "since when is feet more essential at guard then tackle" which I never said nor implied. I've explained the difference a few different times now and you simply don't want to acknowledge that for whatever reason. I didn't make this an either/or proposition because it's not.

You don't see the difference in the requirement still (long strides vs short choppy steps) because you don't want to. No problem. I wish I had not tagged you. I'll simply add you to the "too dumb to bother with" mental bucket. You can keep doing things like blaming poor run plays solely on the OL, thinking whatever you want about OL footwork and such. Whatever you'd like.
