Sam Leavitt To Sign With Lane Kiffin & LSU

When you live and die by the portal at the most important position on the field these are the types of situations you put yourself in.
Almost every single playoff team in the last several years has been a portal QB.
I’m sure no teams wants to do it but it’s the reality.

Unfortunately, predicting a highschooler to be elite at the college level is a difficult task.
Which puts you in pretty much an even worse situation.

Emory is in another stratosphere as the other guys. It’s not even a conversation. Coleman shows up he’ll need S&C badly
I had heard that Nickel had just slightly surpassed EW by the end of Fall practice ... as far as physical performance / passing ... just needed to moderately improve playbook grasp. Not true? Seems like his upside is much higher.

I thought it would be done by now, so that’s never a good thing. Still moving. Let’s see where it goes.
just to clarify in case I am dense; when you say "done" , you mean public commitment or do you mean an actual agreement signed so he can announce whenever?

I was told a week ago Emory is head and shoulders better and they don’t want him leaving.

It would be a waste to throw a 4+ million bag at Leavitt just to attempt to squeeze out 10 wins next year (especially with his added injury concerns). Take a chance on the young guys at QB, and make sure to keep Toney locked in for 2026 and 2027. It was worth risking it with Beck this year since we had a roster that could compete, but next year we return almost no production outside of RB/DB/Toney.

Starting Emory next season would be a waste though. You have to start Nickel/Coleman and see what you have there, and that will guide the portal decision for the 2027 season. Going 8-4/9-3 with Emory vs 6-6/7-5 with Nickel for example does nothing for you.

The most disappointing thing so far this portal cycle has been the failure to get Perich and Biles, we really should have went all in on those two (and maybe we did but whiffed, hard to tell). This is lining up very similar to when UM basketball made the Final 4 and then couldn't capitalize.

Every time I read one of your posts and check username, it makes me hate Jack McClinton and that’s just not fair. He brought me joy in his time here.

Seriously the worst takes on the internet. Reddit levels.

You have to be a troll bot at this point.

Would Raiola rather go sit the bench for a year at Oregon. For a coach that just got his shiiiit pushed in. Or come here and start and win a title next year

Living by the portal is fine, as long as you dont wait 9 days to engage it and procure talent.
do you really think nothing has been going on all this time? It's been said over and over they weren't doing any public visits, commitments etc until after the Fiesta bowl. We cannot lose any more depth at this point.

if they actually go the Emory route I wish they decided that earlier so they could spend that money on some of the more premium portal transfers. Of course, with the natty next week I couldn’t care less until January 20th.
