If all the big time players from SoFlo go to Miami, They would never lose

U aint ever lie Sam. Be the leader and make a move.

Not the kids job to recruit, corches have to do a better job of recruiting and helping to put kids in the league. And certain coaches not going around saying a kid got paid because you suck at recruiting, the kid didn't like you, and chose another school.

Name of coach or GTFO. Don't care who the kid(s) is. Punk *** move if true.

Hopefully the move to Beckhams soccer stadium will sway this kid.
Lolololol No the last thing we need is to be in a bull**** *** futbol stadium that only holds 20,000 people and is 15 minutes away from campus. Granted sun life also sucks *** but what we really need is to finally get out own stadium on campus, it would really go a long way for recruits

I didn't understand the magnitude of the stadium because i was too young. I wish i would've understood and taken advantage of that moment!

If all the top kids from South Florida went to Miami nobody would get within 20 points of us ever. To think of the talent on that roster would be absolutely insane.

Imo his tweets through the day the UM come back game and the history of UM has played a role on him saying this just by going off his tweets but it could be more than that.

I seen another Recruit talking about the Orange bowl too, so im guessing they at the BBQ on a tour or something.

Tour of what? Whatever is at the place the OB stood? What is it now, empty lot? Apartment building? Graveyard for coaches and players of Hurricane opponents past? Toxic waste site? Don't tell me, oh no! a planned soccer stadium!

I just remember that part so vividly in the "U" documentary when Alonzo Highsmith was talking about his class coming out of high school and how he and the other trop recruits said, " Let's just stay home and we'll be cool in our own town."

Obviously things have changed in the last 30 or so years, but it remains the same. If all the top kids stayed home and you sprinkle in recruits from throughout the country then Miami would always have a top team in CFB, but as history has shown we've never been able to keep them all home and with recruiting like it is every other team in the country gets their grubby hands on the kids down here

The world is flat now. Things have changed a lot and its leveled the playing field down here.

We NEVER got all the top kids to stay home. NEVER. We've just had some better years (a higher percentage) and some worse years. We're down near the bottom right now. It will get better. Ironically, the one south Florida stud among that '83 group that didn't stay home, was Tommy Streeter's father. He went to Colorado and then left. Basically only Alonzo and Mel Bratton came. I think there was a kid named Jimmy Austin who was maybe the same year and went to Nebraska, but transferred back to UM and did nothing. The only thing I ever read about him was in the JV game against my second favorite team, the Bucktown Bucks.

Some historians place the breakthrough with the signing of that big DT from Carol City, Lester Williams. That was back about '78. Really, it was Lou Saban (yes we had a coach named Saban) who started recruiting top players like crazy. He was, according to legend, a **** of a recruiter. He brought in Jim Kelly I believe. Jim, incidentally, might be having surgery today or next week. Pray for him.

I'm pretty much detached completely from the overall vibe in sofla as live in NY...but from everythig that's been said on here over the last few years, kids just don't grow up with that same love for the U. We've all pointed the blame at people from coker to shannon to the current staff...they all have some culpability. I also think (and hate to say it) but there was a time (towards the ed of coker's 'reign') when we still had a ton of talent but guys didnt really play with passion...maybe thats on coker but i always kind of resented the fact that it seemed like guys got comfortable. almost like just getting to miami was 'making it' and basiclly assuming that the would be in the NFL in 3-4 yrs. That was essentially a cancer that spread, brought down the quality of the product on the field, we started losing to sh*t schools...and we all remember how we closed out th OB.

What I'm really excited about right now is the fact that golden, for all of his in ability to close out MORE sofla studs (whether due in part to the coud or not)...he has been able to keep SOME local guys home that carry weight in te sofla football community (duke, tracy, coley, chad...to name a few)...I refuse to use the word...but little by little, each year, this team is beginning to resemble a group of guys that will put in the work to develop and bring us back. There seems to be a different pride with this group than those that played towards the end of coker/and under shannon. I sincerely hope that this is beginning to put some of the up and coming local kids on notice, and that they want to be a part of the resurgence.
