Agreed. I'm definitely not a fan of trying to convert H.S. DEs into LBs. It rarely works. Doesn't matter how fast or athletic they are. If they can't diagnose the play developing, all the speed in the world doesn't matter.

That said, I thought I'd read here that Brooks has played standing up before, maybe even as a safety? If that's the case, I'm a bit more optimistic about him.

Ill never forget watching this kid on TV an he was dominating i had no idea he was Cane Commit he was by far the best player on the field! Thinking to myself man i hope this kid is a Cane an then they mentioned he was a Cane commit an boom the knee injury. Reminds me of AQM in many ways. And I don’t doubt Brooks can be a great linebacker. But I want him coming downhill terrorizing the backfield as well. Before his injury he had incredible burst. If he’s back, watch out!

Even after his injury, I kept saying that Brooks was my favorite defensive recruit in the class. My stance has not changed.

Agreed. The skills tend to translate better converting from LB to DE.

Brooks will be the leader of this D as early as next year. He will develop into a better LB than both Shaq and Pinck imo.
