We weren't able to sign enough safeties last cycle. Critical that we will in gaps in the 27 class (both HS and portal).

Mentioned that he's visiting? or just a name to monitor?

Said we offered in January and Georgia/Auburn have as well

No idea if it was a serious or "interest" offer

Hudl tape looks good, plays both sides and special teams, looks like a natural safety.

Kenaz Sullivan has remained in contact with Miami safeties coach Will Harris. Sullivan has yet to visit, but he did say a trip in the spring could be in the cards. It’s unclear exactly where Sullivan sits on the board, but he is an intriguing prospect with a ton of upside.

Anyone in the know about Samari Howard out of STA? Has offers from pretty much everyone besides us

@DMoney in the 3/4 Bank

The local safety class is very good. The Canes love the progress of commit Jaylyn Jones (McArthur). Andre Hyppolite (North Miami Beach) is a priority and one of the most underrated players in America. Zayden Gamble (STA) is a high-character leader who is ready to play. In Atlanta, there continues to be strong interest from KJ Caldwell (Atlanta, GA).

Still a lot of pro UF noise. Kinda interesting they feel that confident. Would be a welcome to the state of miami moment for Johnny boy in Gainesville; however, just not certain he will be overly prioritized.

“They see me everywhere,” Gamble said. “Coach (Will) Harris said ‘we can put you in this jersey right now, and I wouldn’t be afraid.’ Wherever they want me and wherever I can play fastest, throw me there. I just love playing football. If they see me at corner, I’ll go there. I’ll play safety or nickel. It’s wherever I’m needed and wherever I can help the team.”

Jaylon Jones locked in, KJ Caldwell on April 3rd, then Andre Hyppolite is a priority who has a Fong crystal ball.

Gamble announces in July. We’re still pursuing FSU commit Mekhi Williams too; currently scheduled to host him on his last OV.

When D$ talked about Gamble, he grouped him with the safeties. I cannot see us taking 4. And yet, maybe we take four? LoL.

Overlap with the nickle position. Caldwell for instance has major nickle possibility imo
Yeah, i found Gamble’s comment about possibly playing nickel interesting too. Like you said, it’s really five positions we’re after, similar to offensive linemen, FS + SS + Nickel w/ field CB & Boundary CB. Still, even Mario & Mirabal’s maniacal selves didn’t double up w/ six olinemen in ‘26 (6) & ‘25 (4); and i doubt we take 6 Olinemen in ‘27.

Portis is playing nickel for us according to D$.

I know we wanted another safety — Tariq Green and/or Blake Stewart in particular —however, i thought that we weren’t going to take six+ DBs in back to back classes.

The way that it’s lining up leads me to believe Gamble is someone they know can play at Miami but he’s below the other priorities; unless, we plan to take about 6+ DBs.

Jaden Carey, Sherrod Gourdine, Jaylyn Jones, Andre Hyppolite, KJ Caldwell: these are five DBs that I feel will be ‘Canes. Lastly, we know there is staff striving for a 6’1+ blue chip cornerback.

So, if we meet that goal or find a suitable replacement w/ the physical profile without the prep press hyping; like say, three star ‘Bama commit Nash Johnson; then we’d have to go with 7 total DBs, with 4 of them being non-outside corners, to add Gamble.
