Sacks Per Game - Last 14 Years

I'd like to see how any of this correlates with the fact that teams throw it more than they did 10 years ago.

Opens up some discussion, thanks OP.

To take it further...I'd like to see the correlation between sacks and wins (or final BCS rankings). I heard someone on the radio say the other day that there is a direct correlation between national title winners and defensive line stats, but can't remember who said it and I never actually heard the person say what specific stat (sacks, etc etc) was involved in the correlation.

Have to think if there is such a correlation our chances at making a run this year look pretty good. This is the most loaded D-line we've had in recent memory.

If you're wondering how it shakes out by national champs, here ya go:

-Clemson 3.1 (11th)
-Bama 3.8 (1st)
-OSU 3.1 (15th)
-FSU 2.5 (32nd)
-Bama 2.7 (21st)
-Bama 2.1 (39th)
-Auburn 2.6 (16th)
-Bama 2.2 (44th)
-UF 1.7 (65th)
-LSU 2.6 (29th)
-UF 2.5 (28th)
-Texas 2.5 (23rd)
-USC 3.7 (1st)
-LSU 3.2 (6th)

Highest by Champ - 3.8
Lowest by Champ - 1.7
Average - 2.7

So basically it's an irrelevant stat without any further context.

Every Cane fan who endured watching 2011-2015 deserves a medal of honor.

F'in disgusting philosophy.

I remember being surprised when we got sacks lol.

Perfect example.

Luther Robinson splits two blockers, blows up the Georgia Tech running back, causes a fumble and is never heard from again. Literally the kid was blackballed for making a play against the scheme LOL.

Yea pretty much.

Since we're leveraging an aggressive scheme in which the D-line's sole purpose is to penetrate and get up field, I think it's fair to assume that how often we create havoc and get to the QB will be a large factor in our success.
