Or if Joshua Moore catches that screen correctly, likely a TD. Or Indiana’s punter doesn’t kick it 60 yards and Mali is allowed to set up that punt return for Fitzgerald across the whole field, probably another TD. So many opportunities

Perception will never change on that because the media outlets keep pushing the narrative that the SEC is the greatest thing in the history of the sport. The reality is, it was once dominant but now it’s very overrated. But still much better than the ACC from top to bottom. But I don’t see any dominant teams from the SEC. We can and have proven we can beat the best from that conference.

You do realize he's still employed to speak on the sec right? Hence why he mentions ranked teams. You think Satan doesn't know how hypercritical the rankings are and how they're calculated? Like he doesn't know the role that the media plays in rankings and what parent companies own media platforms .. plenty of reasons to get out of the acc & we're almost there. But that perception is far down the list.

I don’t know if all of you listened to the entire interview with Saban.

Yea sure he says he “loves” Mario, but…. he also said he’s a used car salesman. Not exactly glowing.

I don’t trust him, he’s employed to be an ESPN/SEC honk, and if push comes to shove if he has to render a crucial opinion with respect to Mario versus an SEC team, say maybe around playoff time, guess which way he’s going to go.

I believe Saban picked Miami to beat both AM and Ole Miss

I think if I recall - we won our first NC without being in any conference.

The ACC - we haven't won that - yet. Yes, it's smaller, but I've noticed that the SEC is no longer the ones outright paying players wholesale - and as a result, they're not last-minute cherry picking the very best players now.

The SEC is now spending money and effort - beating each other up. We're not faced with that as much.

If we can dominate the ACC - we'll still end up in the playoffs - and not get the hail (sp) beat out of us during the regular season.

Big fish in a smaller pond - or Middle fish in a larger pond? (maybe a larger than average size fish in a large pond)

I care about our Win/Loss numbers. We still made some good money last year.

The perpetual success of a very few SEC teams as in the past - is degrading thanks to the NIL. It's like cats fighting in a sack.

The ACC did beat a few OOC teams in the playoffs last year ...

Can't say the same about the SEC

And yet the SEC has 9 teams in the top 25 (7 in the top 10) while the ACC has 3.

People have already decided the ACC is a 1 bid league before a single game is played.

And that’s because Saban knows football, even though he’s a hypocritical little Napoleon. That’s just making a pregame pick that has no effect at all on anything anyway.

What I meant by crucial opinion is an opinion that might actually influence someone, for example, an opinion rendered before the playoff selection committee reveals their playoff picks. An opinion by him that could actually have some influence.

So for example, Miami is on the bubble between them and an SEC team, and both teams are closely matched, maybe with Miami having an edge in terms of record no real bad losses. Who do you think he’s going say should get in? My money is on the SEC team.

That seems more like good natured ribbing. Mario also teases how Saban gets his face powdered and eye brows trimmed before shows.

He spoke pretty highly of Miami last season and called them a dangerous team if they made playoffs.

No doubt Saban is an SEC mouthpiece, but he did give us our due in the lead up to CFP selection day. Said we were one of the most dangerous teams, talked up our high end talent, and reminded everyone that we dominated the line of scrimmage and "kicked Notre Dame's *** in the game" when it was a toss up and Alabama was one of the teams in the running.
 
All I know is ol Nicky Boy has been driving the Miami is legit bus for 2 years straight now. He was on board before almost everybody else in the national media. He seemed almost personally hurt by how bad the defense was w Cam.

I wouldn't put too much stock in his comments here.

Talking up Miami did nothing to hurt Alabama‘s chances because the way the system was set up, we weren’t being compared with them. We were only being compared with Notre Dame.

He knew this and the things he said about us that were nice, they weren’t really nice, it was because he looked at the possible playoff field, and like I said before he knows football, so he’s not going to give a stupid opinion that anybody that knows football would know is wrong. If you have a good football mind, you knew Miami was going to be a problem in the playoffs. So he elaborated on that because he knew what his eyes were telling him.

I don’t think the playoff committee is making selections based off what he says- unless he is on the committee and giving input. But if he does, it worked out well last year as he said Miami should be in over ND.

Most of those dudes probably can’t stand him anyway.
