Saban not satisfied with 2nd half and prep this week

The only reason his "eat nails" schtick is impressive from afar is because they are winning. Switch his record with Manny and suddenly Saban is just an ******* not a great motivator. You don't have to be a grim reaper to get respect from your kids. Manny is in his 3rd year ever as a head coach. He'll develop a style all his own after a while. If he wins you'll love it if not cue the Manny is a loser because....fill in the blank crew.
...After a while??....he's been here 6yrs, what's after a while??....10yrs??...

I'd say that he has a style as a defensive coordinator already and he's still tweaking his head coaching style. 3 years in coaching is not a long time to be a head coach.

Nick Saban is such a good coach. Btw, how much do they charge you guys to stick your head completely up his ***? I always thought it was more cost effective to stop at the chin, but then again you're so invested at that point, might as well push all the way to the shoulders and get neck deep in Nick.

Please let me know what you guys think.
So glad to see a mod take a stand against this crap. I'm so sick of so called Cane fans slurping off all these other programs and coaches and constantly running our Canes down. If they love all these other people so much go root for their teams.

Saban may be the best ever but he NEVER has allowed himself to enjoy it. Belicheck is a similar breed. The relentless pursuit of perfection is great, but if you don't enjoy the ride, what's the point?
👆 💯
I remember him being interviewed on live TV one time after he had won a natty. He looked miserable sitting in the chair and the anchors asked him how he was feeling. He basically said that he was stressed about the celebrating that would now take place because it would mean losing valuable time on the recruiting trail. This was literally a few hours after the championship game.

This is the worst argument I’ve ever heard. You ever think that maybe he wins bc of the culture he’s instilled there? That’s like saying Bill wouldn’t be liked in New England if he lost. Well no s*** but he hasn’t been losing and that’s bc of their personality and commitment to the little things.

My point is that everyone seems enamored with every single move that Saban makes and then tries to juxtapose it with everything that Manny does. "Look what Saban said", "look what Manny said, that's why he isn't winning". BS! Its much more nuanced then that. Manny can be his own man and still win.

All Nick Saban did based on this particular discussion was display a "never satisfied" attitude. If you think that this approach is uncommon among coaches I don't know what to tell you. Dissatisfaction is a part of the reason he is winning. The other part is because he is a football genius.

Saban celebrates for 5 seconds when they win the title and gets back to work, while Miami pounds Cinnamon Toast Crunch smoothies, play grab-*** at Top Golf, and show off gaudy pieces of jewelry when they make a play during a blowout on national tv. Diaz treats this all like it's meant to be fun which would be fine if he wasn't 14-11. Look at his reaction on the sideline when we execute routine things like first downs and open field tackles. Not everything has to be celebrated.

Like they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Yes, Saban and Belicheck have won because they are great coaches, but it isn't simply because they commit to the little things and their personality. Any Dolphin fan out there will remember stories of Joe Philbin going through the locker room picking up tiny pieces of paper because he was that anal about keeping things neat and orderly. Plus, he wasn't the greatest interview for the press either, just like Belicheck and Saban.

There are coaches who are much more laid back and actually truly enjoy their success. Pete Carroll and Andy Reid come to mind. Even Don Shula wasn't such a hard a$$ 24-7.

Coach Saban loves the guys and they love him. Genuinely. Coach speak happens when coach speak should happen. Everything with this guy is choreographed and on schedule. Behind the scenes, the players are laughing at the perception the media and other football fans think is going on 24/7 and in those pressers.

I’m gonna respond to the ones who commented on my post as a whole right here.

Nobody claimed Manny has to copy Saban to be successful, I was pointing out the differences. Manny was proud Bama only rushed for 150 yards and Saban was mad the second half was sloppy. Manny was happier than Saban and they blew us out. Manny let the chain come out down 30. Manny slip and slides after beating awful teams. He lets guys to dance on the sidelines even when they’re losing to FIU.

No you don’t have to be a **** but focusing on the little things and not accepting mediocrity is something you need to win at a high level. Manny is his own worst enemy. People would give him a lot more of a break if he wasn’t all fake bravado. The FSU camp thing, “The New Miami” and the offseason hype and all the BS I just mentioned.

Winning should be fun but playing subpar and winning shouldn’t be celebrated. Nor should nor getting beat as bad as you thought or losing close games. He just doesn’t have the traits or at least hasn’t shown them yet, of successful people.

Lets be real, baga would score 44 points against "ANY" team in college football. I thought we played well on defense the second half. King needs to learn touch and find passing lanes because he panics when defenders shrink the pocket. I truly believe the passing game would improve if we played one of our, Garcia my favorite, pro sized QB's. King a good subdivision QB but not at this level IMO.

They're playing Mercer this week. He's got to find something to drill them about. I don't think it's anything a good coach would not be doing to keep his team focused.
