Saban hiding the numbers

NIL helped us, but we are still way behind the big boys in terms of what they can offer.

You think so? There's not much money in the state of alabama.

Not sure the "NIL game" is that expensive at this point -- maybe a couple million $$ a year for the football team?

The boosters at Alabama and just about every other big-time school can come up with that pretty easily I would think.

And it's like they're going from $0 to $2M ... under the table money was already flowing before NIL was a thing.

(Not to mention, Bryce Young might be making more from his Dr. Pepper commercials than anything else)

I mean its something we need to prove that we can do...exactly how it was written.

"...we need to prove we can develop and continue put high caliber players into the NFL..."

Do you work for the national media or something?

LOL
Not highest grade of weed in the dispensary.

Ill put it this way, if we have decided to INVEST in our program back in 2000 when Butch hauled ***, we could be saying the same **** right now, as wel as the rest of the country. The rich will get richer.

We probably had several opportunities to really INVEST in the program, before we got to where we are. Coker was never going to be the answer.

We are in a bad mess right now and having to compete with programs that have an established track record of success is going to be a severe uphill battle.

One thing that I promise will not work, is the coaching carousel. Mario better be the guy, and IDGAF who he has around him, as long as we make progress each year

This is year 1

Well, you just mentioned Butch so that's the end of sanity in this thread

Hopefully Mario works out because the scary thing is no investment was going to be made if he didn't come in. That's a joke in itself, but at least Mario came and the money came with him.

“I know the consequence is going to be difficult for the people who are spending tons of money to get players,” Nick Saban said at an event counting down the start of the World Games, which will be held in Birmingham in July. “You read about it, you know who they are. We were second in recruiting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness.

“We didn’t buy one player. Aight? But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to sustain that in the future, because more and more people are doing it. It’s tough.”
I would genuinely like to punch him in the face.

I hate bold-faced liars.

Maybe the biggest reason of all why we need to get that invite to either the SEC or the B1G.

Any schools not in one of the "Super 2" conferences are probably facing a $50M media rights deficit annually in the coming years.

Gonna be hard to reach elite status in football under those circumstances

What baffles me is how over the years no prominent bagman or even a related party has ever snitched . You've got to hand it to these rich, Southern rednecks, their omerta game is strong. I wonder what keeps them all so loyal?

Hiding the numbers is smart. Because on the books their isn’t as much as people think with some of these schools. Off the book Cooter Smith in Tuscaloosa doesn’t own a business any longer but loves 50k handshakes. One time payment to get a kid and there is more if you produce. Nil these guys don’t want to be bound to turds.
