Really not that surprising at all - once the tables turned and NIL made things a bit more equal - he had no interest because he had no clear and substantial advantage.

Add in Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC and a 12 team playoff makes winning a title even harder when the playing field is leveled.

Who knows... Maybe Saban might be willing to put in a good word for Miami with recruits instead of steering them towards Bama, especially if Bama hires Dabo or Meyer. I don't think he cares for them very much.

Rumor's on twitter say Lanning is basically a done deal as the coach.
