Saban calls out Miami while complaining about NIL

I think the best thing that can happen here is that Ruiz, Deion and Jimbo don’t let this go and make it into a big deal through the media and social media. We’ll get more and more former players and recruits spilling the beans about what Alabama offered and what they were paying their players. I don’t even care if the NCAA does nothing about it. I just want it out in the open. I want everyone to know that without a shadow of a doubt, that Alabama bought all their titles and were doing everything illegally during Saban’s entire run as coach. I want it to be a story on sports center, college game day, espn2 espn8 (the ocho) every sports program on TV and the internet.

He‘s mad because Jimbo is playing a different game by using NIL. Saban is comfortable with using good old boy boosters and churches to pay players under the table. NIL is opening things up to everyone, and it‘s making him uncomfortable.
His legacy, upon further review, doesn't shine as brightly now does it?

When faced with a level playing field he is shrinking from the moment.

Saban grew misty eyed, staring at the picture of a fleet of vehicles at Saban Motor Cars. Standing amidst the mahogany walls of the innermost chambers of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Temple, he allowed his mind to wonder. What if? he thought. What if cars and a few stacks of cash were no longer what it took. He recalled the embarassing pictures that had leaked of players holding fistfuls of American currency on Signing Day, of athletes posing with exotic cars with Corinthian Leather. But each of these incursions had been dealt with quietly, aided by a compliant ESPN and thralled NCAA.

What if?

Again the thought. What if these payments, while sufficient in days past were no longer enough. What if he had to play on an even playing field. What if the rest of college football, or at the very least Miami and USC were about to step over his program in the years to come.

He then thought of another coach. One far greater than he. One who had the wisdom to take a different path.

He picked up a crimson phone on his desk. After dialing a number on the rotary phone, a voice answered.

"This is Nick," the Alabama coach said. "Coach Johnson, can you recommend any good properties in the Keys?"

The answer was immediate as the line clicked dead.

Saban was left to ponder...what if?

Saban sounds like he's about to go over the edge because he can't control something. This is reminding of the rat poison press conference.

Alabama pays for players. I’ve spoken to people on all three sides of the transaction (team, booster, recruit). They pay and they have always paid.
We opened up a package at school one day and it was a shoe box loaded with cash for a Bama commit (this was the beginning phase of Saban).

I've even had a Bama coach tell me to have one of my kids call a guy for a job (he was committed to Oklahoma, so they were trying to flip him).

Now do you guys see why Saban is pushing so hard for restrictions??

NIL being the Wild West chaotic open market that it is actually levels the playing field & throws a monkey wrench in the Monopoly that Bama has had on recruiting...

Notice he didn’t say anything about UGA or LSU historically buying players, why do you think that is?

Just remember, the two coaches who are the most against NIL is Saban & Dabo, so what does that tell you?
It tells me that they know what's coming if NIL continues the way it is right now......an *** whooping the size of Texas! They're scared their run of doing whatever they want is over They've gotten away with it for over a decade and i can't wait to see Miami or USC curb stomp these hypocrite *****!

I hope Ruiz goes full Lincoln Lawyer and brings out tons of Travis Johnsons to tell their stories about getting paid by Bama

I love how TJ came off the top rope with an atomic elbow. Hopefully more profile former players come out. TJ was a big time recruit back in the day fwiw - almost came here./
