Great segment. Saban is the best. You can tell he really likes Mario. He doesn’t treat all his former staff this way.

This is awesome for a number of reasons.

First, it shows how much Saban likes Mario that he takes the time to discuss this issue in such detail. He is basically still coaching Mario

Second, Mario is smart. Lots of people on CIS enjoyed calling Mario dumb. No dumb person can fire back at Saban in the detail Mario did and highlight the difference between 45 and 60 seconds.

Third, it shows the extreme and detailed influence Saban has had on Mario.

Fourth, I would bet of all his assistants who are now head coaches, Saban thinks Mario is the most like Saban.

This conversation is like mentor/mentee or teacher/pupil. But the pupil got the best of the teacher tonight.

Great interview back & forth. Nice seeing Saban & Mario letting their guard down. Could argue Mario is Saban’s favorite from his coaching tree.
