Ryheem Lockley at Safety

Bring Lockley in as a tight end, a position where he can play his fastest at and would be match up nightmare. Or bring him in as a WR along with Griffin and Langham to form mismatches similar to what Mizzou does to opponents.

I would prefer to see him as a tight end or linebacker personally. Just takes a truly unique athlete to be that big and be able to play safety. I learned my lesson with the Ray Ray Experiment.

Ray Ray was not close to this kid as an athlete.

Agree. This kid is lights out. That said, if he was 6-3, 220 already coming out of HS, he's gonna grow out of the safety/WR quickly. Sean Taylor is the exception (coming to college at 6-3, 220 safety and staying there).

Interestngly, Sean Taylor put on a lot of weight at the U and measured in at 6´2/230 at the combine. So I´m pretty sure even he was quite a bit lighter than 220 when he got here.

well at 6'5" u will look skinny at 205 lbs so it is possible he is at least 200 pounds.

That doesnt mean he'd be ready to contribute right away but who knows.

In no way do I believe he will be ready to play from day one. All I am saying is the kid is a big receiver.

To the poster who said that Langham is coming in at the same weight as Streeter, from the looks of that pic, you are dead wrong. Streeter didnt look that big until he was a RS-Jr here at UM.

I dont know where to put Lockley at this point. I agree that we should just let him qualify first. After the debacles of Bond and potentially Stuckey, I am in wait and see mode.

We constantly complain on the other board that our defense isn't athletic enough. These are the types of tweeners that fix that. If in doubt, always err on the side of stacking the defense with athletes. I say try him at linebacker and see if he can do anything there, and if not move him across to tight end.

He did put on weight, but IIRC, he was a 215 kid in HS and I remember reading reports about his first fall practice here how he was a 220 pound safety,

If Derrick Griffin makes it in he will be the TE in this class and our version of Ebron. Griffin is now listed at 6-6 255 according to rivals.

And somehow lost a star or two. Don't think they've got this one right.

**** he got big as ****. He'd be better Ebron. **** Ebron. he'd be the NFL version of Jimmy Graham.

Well Miami needs a big WR too so if Derrick Griffin is that big, Ryheem Lockley definitely should play receiver.

/ i'm sure he lost a star b/c their not sure he's going to qualify.

At that size Griffin will be a difference maker from day 1. Don't forget about Darrell Langham 6-5 205 he could be up to 215-220 by the time the 2014 season starts.

And so the overhyping begins. Langham is a rail right now, no way he is 200. Looks skinnier than Streeter was. By the time next season rolls around everyone will be expecting him to come in and make big time plays from Day 1. Then of, God forbid, the kid has to redshirt we will be calling him a bust before his second year. Rinse, wash, repeat every year. Let it play out.

For a 6-5 kid in HS, based on those pictures, he actually has a great frame to build on. Yes, he is still thin, but he's over 200lbs. That is a great spot for a SR WR in HS at 6-5. He looks like he can easily be 210 by the time he enrolls.

Exactly! Most "big" receivers were not very big coming out of high school. It will take him some time but he can become that big receiver by his redshirt sophomore year.

Mike Evans was 6-5 180 as a SR in high school. He is now 6-5 225 as a RS SO
Kelvin Benjamin was 6-5 210 as a SR in high school. He is now 6-5 243 as a RS SO
Calvin Johnson was 6-4 210 as a high school SR. He was 6-5 230 as a JR at Georgia Tech

Langham doesn't look skinny at all, actually he has pretty decent size for a 6'5 17 year old.
