Ryan Mayes to Miami Bat Signal Confirm

look I don't give a **** about stars and bull**** subscrpition based rankings. All I care about is if the kid can ball and take us to the next level. Unfortunately the past few years with all the info and camps, sleepers are becoming more and more rare.

Welcome to the U!

/better be able to ball

He sure likes to strip the ball. CAUTION for those about to watch his HL's not all of his best plays are stacked at the beginning of the tape. I thought it got better as the tape went on.

Mayes doesn't have a phone according to Pete so good luck getting confirmation on this lol.

Sorry y'all but based on film this kid is a mid-major type player. Decent speed, not very physical in coverage, no ball skills and he doesn't tackle that well in space. Okay lateral quickness and feet with the ball in his hands and he's a body catcher at receiver. 6'1-187 is good size for a CB, but other than that I don't see it. We'll see. Hope I get to eat a lot of crow...gotta trust Golden on this one

Yeah good call on reminding folks to look at the whole highlight tape becuz for a minute there I was like WTF? Lol. Reminds me of a taller Tyronn Mathieu. Looks like a playmaker. Funny we have never heard of this kid though. Like one poster said..No bat signal..No dice.

I agree but the kid is still young, would love to hear what stood out about him at the camp

I do like his size and frame for only a junior in high school. Let's remember that we are watching a highlight film of just a junior. Kids like this go to camps and keep working and are highly sought after their senior season. Let's hope we jumped on him early bc of our proximity and we'll be reaping the rewards of it.

umm...I usually dont like Dr.Krop kids...But he just transferred to The West so we should see how he performs.

The first two mins of his tape hes making plays against two of our current committs in Alin Edouard and Chocolate Gray(He strips the ball from him)...

Will see...the 5.00 speed aint pretty...but he performed inc amp in front of coaches..and his name has been buzzing since he transferred to MNW.

This is really interesting. Yesterday at camp, I noticed a kid in a wife beater that hadn't participated all day and had just hopped in for one-on-ones. He looked bigger than any DB and was locking people up. So I go over to Miami Northwestern OC Tyrell Comyers and asked him who the kid was since he was wearing MNW shorts, and he told me the kid's name was Ryan Mayes. I forgot to put him in the write-up because it was right at the end of camp and I didn't post about him in the camp updates thread. From the limited time I saw him, he stood out as much as anyone which says a lot because I wasn't particularly focusing in on him before I knew who he was. It will be great to see him this season at the West.

Honestly can't give you an answer to that because I haven't seen enough of him. Between Smith, JoJo, and Mayes I'll definitely be at a bunch of Northwestern games this season.
