Rutgers BOT has more balls than UM’s

One of the reasons why they want the AD out is “because of lack of competitiveness of the football team.” UM loses to fiu and duke and um bot is silent.
They are spending so much effin money. They want to spend even more money to hire outside consultants to “conduct a complete review of the program's past failures and formulate a detailed action plan to reform its management and finances.”

If we account for relative strength of opponent, as a function of recruiting rankings, Rutgers was more successful than UM.

IOW Miami routinely loses to teams with way less talent. Whereas Rutgers routinely IS the team w way less talent.

Miami football is a joke.
I get you're upset but there is no way you are spinning Rutgers football as more successful than us. Sorry that's just a bad take.

Then you’re just making decisions w emotion rather than logic. This hurricane team, considering their level of talent vs competition, had a worse year.

The record is better, but that’s it.

What’s were the expectations at Rutgers? Prolly not too far off from what happened. What were we expecting?

Yea, this was a much worse year for Miami football.

Lean on Me. Classic film set in NJ.

One of the principals first moves in his first staff meeting when he took over was to fire the head football coach for getting pushed around.

lmao im the one making decisions with emotion?

Please tell me logically how we had a worse season than the 2-10 team that went 0-9 in conference and got shut out 4 times? You're being emotional like a woman.

You are missing the point. Rutgers sucks and they know they suck (as do we). Point is they recognize this and are at least trying to make productive changes. Meanwhile our Admin and limp dyck AD seem pretty content to not do a **** thing.

Ok, you’re a simpleton. Have a good day.

Reading comprehension much?

The vote was by the FACULTY Council, not the Board of Trustees.

The same Rutgers faculty that previously advocated for the football program to be shut down.

Seriously, do your research on the Rutgers 1000.

Not some of the big check guys. I know this for a fact.
Edit: Aren’t liberal flakes.

Chuck Cobb was appointed Ambassador to Iceland...by a Republican president (George H.W. Bush).

Plenty of Republicans on the BoT, I also know this for a fact. I was a Politics major and an officer of C.R. when I was an undergrad.

Lots of idiot football fans should refrain from making inaccurate generalizations about political affiliation.

They should leave political shît out of it. It’s just divisive and some of these guys are just making inaccurate, misinformed generalizations, like you said. On top of it, some BOT members do extraordinarily good things in the community, including things that aren’t publicized but yeah... football isn’t prioritized the way we as fans want for our own reasons.

I personally think they can easily do more for the football team while keeping their other priorities going. All they have to do is hire a strong, independent, established, competent AD and give him some backing and it would actually be less of a headache, and far more successful than what they have now.

Rutgers hasn’t signed a 4 star since the 2017 class. I think Schiano will get some talented guys there but not enough. Best case they’ll be a 6-7 win “happy to go bowling” type program.

My issue with the BOT isn't that athletics suck. It's that athletics suck AND academic rankings are tanking as well. If you want to be Vanderbilt, be Vanderbilt. But don't have Vandy's football program and fsu's academics. And that's where we are.

They really need to look at what’s going on in both areas, sports and undergrad academics. Not sure about the grad programs.

The law school has been mired in the second tier forever. The year I was admitted a letter went out to all admitted students announcing that they were lowering the number of students in entering classes dramatically over the following 5 years to increase academic ranking (I think it was supposed to be something like a 25% reduction). Never happened.

At least Donna had the undergrad rankings moving. Now if you're a Florida resident and you can go to the 57th ranked university for $7k per year (fsu), why would you go to the 57th ranked university for $60k per year (miami)?

I brought this up previously. Academic rankings (particularly US News & World Report) are heavily reliant upon "selectivity". Miami only takes (APPROXIMATELY) 3,000 undergrads each year. If 3,000 people apply, then you have 100% acceptance and 0% rejection. If 100,000 people apply, then you have 3% acceptance and 97% rejection. A school like Harvard gets a ton of applicants every single year, no matter how the football team does. But Miami has shown that when our football team does well, our number of applicants skyrockets.

Therefore, as much as a "true academic" would prefer to deny it, a good football program can actually have a large impact on academic rankings, at least ones that rely on the selectivity index of the Admissions Office.

It is not surprising that our academic rankings have slid as our football team has sucked. The combination of high tuition and "not enough good reasons (i.e., great football team) to apply to Miami" have conspired to kill our upward academic ranking trajectory. Meanwhile, the State of Florida continues to grow, thus the "good" state schools (UF and F$U primarily, but UCF and USF more recently) are benefitting from "increasingly selective admissions" as these big schools can only take so many admissions, and the applicant pool continues to grow each year.

I can assure you, there is NO ACADEMIC PROGRAM that is causing F$U to "rise" in the academic rankings, and there is nothing that Shalala or Frenk (I really don't like him) have done to decrease Miami's academic ranking...

EXCEPT...

For our football team tanking for the past 15 years.
