Run Game in 2021

Yost runs the ball at a worse rate compared to Lashlee. One guy is the HC at SMU, the other is the OC at FIU.
Stop it....In 2017 as Utah St's OC they had 2,300 rushing yds.
In 2011 at Missouri Yost guided the Off attack to a Big12 conference rushing title and finished the season ranked 9th after averaging 245yds rushing a game, and Missouri was one of only 2 schools to avg 235yds rushing...and 235yds passing per game. Go Google David Yost...and view his entire body of work throughout his 25yrs of coaching....

This is by far my biggest reservation headed into the season. And I’m not a boomer, you won’t hear me yelling “RUN THE **** BALL”, I’m not an establish the run type of dude. I know full well the analytics will tell you designed runs are almost -EV at this point. But at some point, you have to be able to run the football to win games. You have to have a physical group up front to dictate how your offense is going to handle a defense. And I can’t remember the last time we had that here. It’s been literally decades since we were able to line up in heavy and move people off the line of scrimmage with any regularity.

We all know Mario and Mirabal’s pedigree. I have no doubt that in 2-3 years, we will have a very good offensive line. But what about this year? What can we really expect to change from last year, considering these are mostly the same kids? Because last year was GROSS. Check out this tweet from David Hale. My god this is offensive for a team who should have talent across the board.

And miss me with the Lashlee stuff and how Gattis’ scheme will mitigate this and flip it on its head. Lashlee has has successful rushing offenses. He comes from the Gus tree, they know how to run the football. This, to me, is talent, desire, and fundamentals. I know the fundamentals will be better. Will the talent and desire to knock the **** out of people follow suit?

Try not to throw up.

Its all about the opponent. Miami should have success against most teams on the schedule. Its Tex a&m and Clemson is where the run game has to do enough to keep the pass rush from teeing of on TVD. If the offense can have some balance doesnt have to be 50-50 Miami will score a ton of points.

Lash was dependent completely on tempo. Fast as you could go. But when the tempo began to hurt us the run game dipped bad. Thankfully likens supposedly saved us through the air. Or so the story goes.

When ur that simple and you back the tempo off it’s a recipe for disaster

Donaldson and Jarrid Williams are out of football completely if I'm not mistaken. Like not even a camp invite or anything. Never saw much of a mean streak with either one. Replacing them with Campbell, Rivers, Sagapolu may help.
Jarrid was just cut
