Rumor

Discussion for the offseason at this point, but I mean how can anyone justify keeping this defensive staff.

What value do any of them bring? Bunch of bums
They’ll justify it by stats and only minor things need to be modified. You see it here all the time.

If there’s one thing Manny has been willing to do, it’s cutting and running when necessary specifically with his staff.

I’ve been willing to give the D the benefit of the doubt after limiting 4 out of 6 teams to under 20 points. However, there were red flags and they all showed up last night.

This is not the same pass rush we’re used to. Our DBs still look suspect. Our LBs plod around and miss tackles too often. If we win out, does Manny address this in the off-season? Or does he recognize the incompetence and make cut throat decisions.
Its not 2 its 3- louis-34, ncst- 41, clem-42

He hasn't proven that to be the case with his band of defense goons that should be QC coaches at best.

I'd say you're wrong.

Diaz, quietly, is a ruthless ************. He won't risk his job.
Why is he ruthless? Ruthless is hardly the word I would use to describe Slip and Slide.

The kick return sucked, but overall, I don’t think Patke has done a terrible job with the special teams unit.
He has Hadley and Jose, which helps. We had the game with the blocked FGs. We also have had multiple fumbles during the season, Gurvan Hall running the wrong way last night, multiple offsides penalties on field goals, and I think a block in the back on every return last night. It’s been a mixed bag.

It's easy to see that we're 6-1 and ignore that there's a weakness because of it. I was admittedly more bullish on the defense before the season started because of last year's performance. This year it's been good enough, but just barely.

Let's not forget that it was only a few years ago that we were 7-0 and it was just as easy to overlook the glaring weakness on offense until it smacked us in the face the next game. We're fortunate that Manny can take the reins, but that's a bandaid, not a solution.

You assume every KR had a holding or block in the back penalty. They never replayed a single one.

If they did or didn’t after the 2nd or 3rd time starting a drive inside your own 15 you have to tell knighton not to keep bringing it out.

Because less than 24 hours after being announced as the Head Coach of the Miami Hurricanes he sacked every offensive coach. Guys he'd spent countless hours with in the film room / on bus rides / plane rides / hotel rooms etc as a peer.

He then turned around 12 months later and fired the entire offensive staff HE had hired - the same staff he'd hyped up to the moon.

He's a politician's son. He'll cut ties with Baker. He has to see that the defence isn't good enough and is holding the team back.

People scream it because 6-1 is the ONLY thing that matters.

Come on man. At what point does player responsibility count for something?
It is a factor but I know our entire team isn't full of idiots. What points an obvious finger to coaching is that nearly every player on defense and st has made multiple head scratching decisions over the last 3 to 4 years, sometimes the same mistake repeatedly. At some point you have to blame the coach for not coaching or for not benching said players.

Agree to disagree. None of that tells me he is ruthless, per say. It wasn’t exactly rocket science to make those obvious changes that needed to be done. Baker and him are friends. Baker just had a kid. I seriously doubt we will be seeing him go any time soon.

No it's not. What matters is how we close the year and maintaining momentum going into recruiting. In the last 15 years, how many times have started hot, then crawled into the finish.

Who cares what this team did under Coker and Shannon? The players we are recruiting were barely out of diapers.

This is a 30 year or more deal with UM players. Even our best teams ever made continuous errors. They just out talented the other team to make up for it.
