Rumor going around that Steed...

The rumor is true. He was having a good spring and just got work yesterday with the ones. Broke my heart this morning when I got the call. It is what it is. I like Brooks to come in and handle business. This has been a tough break for my son and he is really not taking it well. He tore the same ACL that he tore his senior year in high school. He is a tough kid and knows he has the talent to play at a high level, just gonna be hard going through another rehab and season not on the field with his brothers. For me it’s very tough to handle because he is hurting and I can’t find the words to make him feel any better. I just told him that the storm can’t last forever and he will soon have to get up and get back to work.
Very sorry to hear this. You and he are two of my favorite Cane family members. I’ve always had very high hopes for your son as a player, and I still do. If you feel like talking about, hit me up.

My nephew had 2 acl tears and a meniscus tear. The 1st acl was in high school and the second was during his sophomore year at Indiana while on their basketball team, as well as the meniscus his junior year. But it didn’t derail him, it just forced him to be patient, which is hard. He’s now playing professional basketball in Europe. He has been completely healthy now for 2.5 years. His name is James Blackmon, Jr if you want to read about his story.
I write all this to let you know what your son will come back and he’ll be great. As you know the rehab is very challenging, but he’ll persevere and be stronger as a person for it. James really has learned how to listen to and take care of his body and will likely play pro ball for the next 10-12 years. Your son will still achieve his dreams, delayed a bit but not lost

It's hard when you're young - and largely perception.

When I was five - a whole year was one-fifth of my entire life - at twenty - it was one-twentieth. You get up there a bit further, they start to blur.

ACL - not good. But look at what Amman just suffered. Relatively speaking . . .

And THAT's why it's important for players to take advantage of getting their education - as no one is guaranteed another down of football. No one.

I grew up in a Hoosier family. We all loved James! Glad to gear he is doing well.

Wayne - I was going to post on my twitter copying the football team, I met your son in Publix this past Tuesday, I’m a 93 grad of UM, what a great young man you are raising...sad news. Just point him to Frank Gore, your lil man will return better than before!

I am very sorry and sad to hear the news sir! Please tell your son to keep his head up. There is no question in my mind that he will make an excellent and speedy recovery, and at the end of the day he will be a part of the great Hurricane LBs to have come through Coral Gables. God bless the both of you!

I want to thank you for posting and letting the Cane family know about the situation. I speak for most of us when I say that if a Cane is down, we are all down and affected by the situation.
Please let your son know that the Cane family is praying and pulling for a speedy recovery. May God's grace bring your son back faster, stronger and hungrier so he can showcase that awesome talent on the field again. I know he will. Prayers my brother.

We had a running back that most said would never play again after he injured his knee in the Natty game, and he played in the league several years.
We had another guy that basically has had multiple knee injuries and shoulder injuries that is stil in the league and is going to the hall of fame.
He’ll bounce back.
