I understand what you are implying, but not sure using Kobe and Mike is a good comparison. Totally different sports. Love Kobe and Michael Jordan is the GOAT, but they got the benefit of a lot of calls that went in their favor. If they got touched, the ref was calling the foul most of the time. They didn't have to "sell" the foul and would often times initiate the contact. They just had that hang time, strength, and body control to make the basket if they did fouled. And, if they missed the basket while being fouled, they still went to the foul line to shoot free-throws. Football players don't get that luxury. would also be in the ref's ear non-stop to get all the calls. You can do both.. Ala Kobe and Mike lmao
You know what bothered me the most? Watching us run a 2 minute drill, up 28, better than we ran it against UL when it mattered. What was that? The second half we were calling it the same the OL began to impose their will. They weren’t missing blocks and weren’t whiffing as much. I mean that’s how I saw it
That’s because it’s not holding.I couldn't believe the lack of holding flags on the RT last night. How many times did he have his arm around Bain's neck? Geez, ACC refs.
To be honest, most of those are truly not holding because you can’t draw a hold on a dip or a rip move. It’s called riding by the OL. If the move puts him in that position, the OL can keep it and not disengage. Usually ends up looking like a 1 arm hug or a choke hold.I noticed at least 3-4 times he was tackled. Kids being grabbed around the neck, no call. It’s such bull****
i think we get three there we probably win but everything had to go wrong that one play and the rest of that game. Thats cfb its weird asf but the only spin is, when its SEC its a good loss its ACC bad loss. Thats the only difference, and UL isn't some scrub team. You know what bothered me the most? Start an X account "@HoldingRubenBain" and post the photos. Tag all the Canes and Canes Coaches, and all the college football pundits you can think of like Josh Pate, Klatt, Cowherd, etc.Anyone want to do some still shots of these holds/tackles? If you want to change things, you need to get proof posted and sent to the right people.
You’re exactly right. OL harm around DL neck is the fault of the DLTo be honest, most of those are truly not holding because you can’t draw a hold on a dip or a rip move. The one time holding was called was when Bain made the OL whiff on the dip and then he engaged and grabbed around the neck - which you cannot do.
He’s gonna have to get lower on his rip/dip to get off of those blocks. That’s the disadvantage of an edge with shorter arms, you don’t get the initial separation to break off and then rip through to get those holding calls. I think he needs to use his spin move more in obvious passing downs. It has so much power he gets movement and then wins inside almost every time.

He has it and he uses other moves. He has a nice bag of tricks and most are polished. He plays a lot more wide alignment than Mesidor most of the time. I think he’d be better playing head up on the RT or even shaded inside as a 4i versus playing 7 tech or 9 tech like he does now. Engage sooner and use strength versus trying to be a speed guy and win wide. But they like him to spill the C gap and set an edge and he does a good job at it.Good points.
Bain needs to add to his move repertoire, although mid-season may not be usually when this happens.
Like this one? This is Bissainthe’s interception. Tackle basically grabs him around the neck with his left hand. You’re exactly right. OL harm around DL neck is the fault of the DL
brother….did you take this pic on a Nokia?Like this one? This is Bissainthe’s interception. Tackle basically grabs him around the neck with his left hand.

I did not mean to imply he did not have a toolbox of moves. He has it and he uses other moves. He has a nice bag of tricks and most are polished. He still wins with an arm around his neck but had 1 sack wrapped up and got tackled after he was able to disengage (the true missed holding). Hes had a hard time finishing sacks when he gets there. He doesn’t get held often, not called… But he gets wins and pressure at an insane clip. Not taking away from him.
Maybe that's the problem. They are hiring too many old white guys who hate Miami already and are missing out on qualified DEI candidates that would come in without a Miami hatred already in place. Are they hiring DEI’s too. Or just retards who don’t know game?
