Rosier's best passing game overall

I've watched the game in full 3 times and have watched the offensive possessions more than that, and I keep coming back to the conclusion that Rosier played his best game as a Hurricane. I know folks will argue FSU last year, and the 4th quarter was a thing of beauty, but he was dreadful in the first half in that game. The game on Saturday was probably about his ceiling as a passer.

As a result, Pro Football Focus College gave him the highest grade of any ACC QB from last week. I have to agree. He was 4/6 on 3rd downs....the ones to Cager and Thomas in the 3rd quarter after Toledo made a run were especially huge. The TD to Thomas was a well enough thrown ball. He threw a nice ball to Cager on the sideline that went for a huge gain. He looked off the safety on several occasions and completed passes.

Now, he certainly wasn't great if you want to compare him to what an elite QB looks like. He missed several reads in the RPO game (again) that could have gone for huge yardage. He missed several throws downfield (again), including one to Thomas that he had to make another ridiculous catch on and if the ball is thrown even semi-well, it's an easy TD. And of course, it was Toledo, and the OL gave him excellent protection all day (0 sacks). So we need to see this against a team with a pulse. But bottom line, we know who this kid is at this point, and we know his ceiling. I think the game on Saturday was about as good as we can expect. Sadly, I'd say it was his A game. But was probably a B or B- game if you're looking at it from the standpoint of what a college QB can/should be (example, that would've been Tua's B- game at best, Kyler Murray's B- game at best, etc)

But give the kid credit. We burn him at the stake when he plays poorly, and deservedly so. But you've got to tip your cap when he plays well. And he played well last week. Now let's do it 10 more times this year.

I agree one of his best games..Can not see where completing less than 60% of his passes rates a B.At best a C-. He had plenty of time to make his reads and make good throws on the majority of his passes.

Rosier played well against a lower level FBS team, yes that is true. And, yes I would agree its it was his second best game as a hurricane. First would be his first start vs Duke (2016) in my opinion.

When Malik was thrust into play against Clemson in 2015, it wasn't pretty. He wasn't prepared to play. A week later, Malik made his first start on the road at #22 Duke. Malik was 20-29, 2 TDs and 1Int....about 69%.

Coaching Matters.....

So now hurlie brown is a better cosch

Everyone wanted a QBs that runs. We have one now and everyone wants him to be 60% passer. Guy is overachiever and that is a good thing because Jim Kelly is not on the bench waiting to come in.

Good game overall.
Every QB has bad plays/reads here and there.

The problem I have with Rosier is that he can be very good and very bad for considerable stretches within a game.
Against teams with good defenses, there are more of the very bad stretches.

What I liked The most regardless of the opponent is how he responded with touchdowns when toledo scored in the 3rd quarter and was converting several 3rd and longs.

Also running pretty physical on a goaline touchdown where he ran through the tackle of 2 defenders and another on this long run where the tackler bounced off on him. When rosier has good days running the ball himself he seems to have a better feel for the game.

Golden 2.0? Gtfoh...

Definitely. Just a better version of Al Golden.

1. TWO 4 Game losing streaks in less than two years. ****, even Golden didn't achieve that.

2. Look at our Mediocre Staff...a bunch of Glorified Graduate Assistant.

3. Praise GOD.

I never wanted a runner. I wanted a guy that can make good decisions, hit his targets, and keep the O moving. Oh, and not having cement feet would be a huge bonus.

100%. Those 2 TD drives in the 2nd half were huge. And he completed 3rd down passes on both drives to keep them alive...something he rarely ever does. My dad and I were joking yesterday after both breaking down the game, we were saying that even when watching on replay and knowing what happens, I'm still half surprised when he converts a 3rd and 8. We've been conditioned the past few years to such poor 3rd down play on offense that when they pick one up, I almost can't believe it. He did that several times on Saturday and should be applauded for it.

Each game stands on its own 2 feet. He may very well go **** the bed against FIU, and he'd deserve to get booed. But he played well on Saturday, so I have to applaud him for it.

First, get Smokey Pole off my fcking site. He's polluting every thread.

Second, Malik was huge in the Toledo game for the simple reason that he answered Toledo every time Toledo scored. That was the ballgame. If he didn't answer their scores, then their momentum would have built to the point where we folded. He engineered a couple drives where the D could catch their breath a little and try to regroup.

Best overall performance for him. Yes, it was a terrible defense we played against, but I'm not going to be an irrational hater. He was the main reason we held on in the 3rd and were able to get out of there with a comfortable win.

What about a QB that can hit 60% of his passes against a juggernaut like Toledo, AND be able to run? Crazy I know.

He played even better against Toledo last year: 27/36 333 yards, 3 TD

If we could just play Toledo every week he'd sweep every major cfb award a few months from now.
