What I don't understand is how he didn't see the field more. We aren't the only team that barely plays the backup, but the more game time the readied they are. You're always one injury from starting.
I appreciate what he did against the Dookies, but, in those highlights, he didn't progress those his reads once. All those throws were to his first option. If Kaaya leaves, Rosier, Richt, and the QB corch got a lot of work to do.
Rosier played well last season at Duke. Richt never seemed to think much of his game. At least in his interviews he never said much about Rosier that led me to believe Rosier had really made a positive impression on him. I wished Rosier had gotten more meaningful reps during the season just to see what our offense would look like with a QB who can run and in case Kaaya did leave. Obviously, a running QB, even one not as athletic as Rosier, gives defense more to prepare for.
Malik's numbers for the season last year overall were average, but I imagine it's different and more difficult to come in for mop up duty when the plays called are what we saw yesterday than when you've had a week to game plan and expect to play. In any case, his numbers at Duke were pretty good. Here are the numbers and the ACC Network's clip of his best plays. He throws a nice deep ball.

Anyway to attach his legs to Kaaya
That last play of the game...he was fast
If Kaaya does decide to leave, I would have cautious optimism that Rosier would win the job next year and the drop off wouldn't be very big at all. The guy has played enough where he wouldn't be deer in the headlights early in the season and then, once he gets into a rhythm, could be something special with his athleticism and ability to run. Maybe it's just me being an eternal optimist.
This is a classic case of the backup QB being the most overrated player. Kaaya is average. Rosier is horrible.
I know I shouldn't let trollish comments like this bother me but I just can't let stupidity go unnoticed. If Kaaya is average then literally you must have to be Joe Montana or Tom Brady not to be average . Kaaya is one of the greatest qbs UM has had overall and this season even with a new coach he has steadily got better . He does need to come back as right now he is late first rounder/early 2nd and he could be top 5 next season but let's not let moronic comments like this slide for someone who has brought qb excellence back to the U. But yes he is statue back there in the Marino mold . Rozier is good back up but we are in trouble if he is the starter next season. It will be Allison and then Perry ( who is the next great one IMO ) .With that being said I expect Kaaya back. Let us pray I am right as he is the difference between the playoffs next season and being 2nd place in the coastal again.

Now that Kaaya is Miami's all time passing leader does this mean Dorsey, Morris, Kelly, Walsh, and Heisman Winner's Testaverde and Torretta were garbage..?
Several things. From what I've seen in several of Rosier's appearances, Duke 2015 specifically, he's, if nothing else equal to Kaaya's limited abilities. I say that because Kaaya is not "exceptional" in any area. IMO Rosier has a quicker release, just as accurate, better velocity, makes reads faster. Nobody can argue the next two facts- adds athleticism and a greater variety of plays you could call with Rosier.
Look fellas Kaaya, the play calling and this slow pace tempo lacking, plain 4 door 1984 stationwagon with sideboard paneling offense, has not and won't be successful against the big dogs. I'm happy with the victories and OL improvement, this offense leaves you wondering what things could be like with better scheme, play calling and QB.

How can you say Rosier is horrible?
I really dont get the hate for this kid.
I realize he only played one full game but in that game he was dropping dimes and making nice throws. And this was on the road at night against a decent Duke team. Sheeze, give the kid a chance. If anything he deserves it, he has suited up for a few years now and patiently waited his turn.

I don't get hating on any player who had to suffer Golden & Co. They all need a pass and pat on the back. I am not particularly a Rosier fan but I am not a fan of dual threat QB in general. However, as you point out, kid is undefeated in full games and I never speak bad of undefeated. He has done nothing to be hated over.

He had trouble beating out Vincent Testaverde Jr. to be the #2 QB. That's all you need to know. If Kaaya leaves (which I doubt) and Jack isn't good enough to beat out Rosier, next year will be yet another "rebuilding" year. It took a miracle to beat Duke with Rosier as QB. It would take more miracles to win games with him as QB next year.

It did not take a miracle to win that game. We won that game long before the miracle and the refs tried to take the game from us with 3 horrendous pass interference calls on the last drive along with giving them a TD when the Duke QB was short of the goal line.
