Rosier

Kaaya might be a better QB, but I think the offense would work better with Rosier. What did we want the QB to do this year? Make the proper read on a simple RPO and read option. Kaaya is incapable of doing that, and his lack of running ability makes the disaster of his lack of proper read even worse. Think of all the plays this year where the entire field was wide open if Kaaya just tucked it and run (the play against VT when he had 40 yards in front of him but instead held it until he scrambled into the sack comes to mind). Rosier is capable of throwing horizontally and running. If he is actually able to make a proper read in the RPO, even better.

This is a classic case of the backup QB being the most overrated player. Kaaya is average. Rosier is horrible.

How can you say Rosier is horrible?

I really dont get the hate for this kid.

I realize he only played one full game but in that game he was dropping dimes and making nice throws. And this was on the road at night against a decent Duke team. Sheeze, give the kid a chance. If anything he deserves it, he has suited up for a few years now and patiently waited his turn.

I don't get the hate for Kaaya, but here we are. You'd think BK was Kyle Wright or Kirby Freeman, listening to this fanbase. The guy didn't blow up like I thought he would in year one under Richt, but he is far from average.

Rosiers pocket presence can't be worse than Kaaya. Brad ran into at least a third of the sacks he took this year. Plus Rosiers mobility, I bet he'd be rolling by mid season as the starter

I know I shouldn't let trollish comments like this bother me but I just can't let stupidity go unnoticed. If Kaaya is average then literally you must have to be Joe Montana or Tom Brady not to be average . Kaaya is one of the greatest qbs UM has had overall and this season even with a new coach he has steadily got better . He does need to come back as right now he is late first rounder/early 2nd and he could be top 5 next season but let's not let moronic comments like this slide for someone who has brought qb excellence back to the U. But yes he is statue back there in the Marino mold . Rozier is good back up but we are in trouble if he is the starter next season. It will be Allison and then Perry ( who is the next great one IMO ) .With that being said I expect Kaaya back. Let us pray I am right as he is the difference between the playoffs next season and being 2nd place in the coastal again.

Miami would've won the same games this year with Malik Rosier at qb instead of Brad Kaaya.... might have won an additional as well.

To be clear, my post above was not crowning Rosier. I'm just saying he's better than some here think he is and based upon Richt wanting to use RPO he should have gotten some meaningful reps to see how he would do since he can run and pass. Next year is a new season.

If I had one wish for our QB evaluation it would be that during at least one of the scrimmages they could be tackled to the ground. I know about injury concerns, and don't want to see a QB lost because of injury, but there is a huge difference between flag football and tackle football. Looking good in seven on seven is one thing, looking good when someone is genuinely trying to rip your head off is another. And you need to figure out which QB can take getting popped without ramping up his internal clock or losing his fundamentals.

Leave it to our fanbase to pine away for a backup QB who almost got beat out by an unrecruited walk-on transfer over a QB projected to play in the NFL.

that walk on QB youre referring too would've won and lost the same games that we did with Brad Kaaya at QB this season.

This is a clown post fueled by your irrational hate of Kaaya.

No we only beat teams this year that we could've won with a walk on QB. Brad Kaaya doesn't make our team better

Anyway to attach his legs to Kaaya

That last play of the game...he was fast

Gotta have the nerves, intuition, and determination to run like Rosier.

I can think of one, and maybe two games we'd have won if we'd have put Rosier in for at least a half.

I appreciate what he did against the Dookies, but, in those highlights, he didn't progress those his reads once. All those throws were to his first option. If Kaaya leaves, Rosier, Richt, and the QB corch got a lot of work to do.

Rosier played well last season at Duke. Richt never seemed to think much of his game. At least in his interviews he never said much about Rosier that led me to believe Rosier had really made a positive impression on him. I wished Rosier had gotten more meaningful reps during the season just to see what our offense would look like with a QB who can run and in case Kaaya did leave. Obviously, a running QB, even one not as athletic as Rosier, gives defense more to prepare for.

Malik's numbers for the season last year overall were average, but I imagine it's different and more difficult to come in for mop up duty when the plays called are what we saw yesterday than when you've had a week to game plan and expect to play. In any case, his numbers at Duke were pretty good. Here are the numbers and the ACC Network's clip of his best plays. He throws a nice deep ball.

M. Rosier @Duke
20-29, 272 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT %68.89 QBR 65.4

If Kaaya does decide to leave, I would have cautious optimism that Rosier would win the job next year and the drop off wouldn't be very big at all. The guy has played enough where he wouldn't be deer in the headlights early in the season and then, once he gets into a rhythm, could be something special with his athleticism and ability to run. Maybe it's just me being an eternal optimist.

Don't get the Hate on Rosier he's 1-0 as a starter. Based off what we saw this year he could probably run this offense better than kaaya. If Kaaya leaves he will be the starter next year. Redshirt Perry then him and Allison will battle it out in 2018

More plays that can be called

With 1 week to prepare? Im fine with his 1 read throws

This isn't the NFL bro. If you're a respectable university you should have at least one highly recruited QB every cycle. If Kaaya goes the time is now for Perry or Allison.
