NFL early free agents more like it..well artie is a top 3 rounder..not sure anyone else gets drafted, maybe a flyer for coley and aqm 5-7 round.

Boy do we need some injection of elite talent at RB, WR and CB. We are painfully pedestrian at those positions.

Not a bad roster. Not bad at all. WR and CB are scary thin, though.

The WR recruiting is unforgivable. None of our WR misses were back breakers, like they get made out to be when they happen, but a series of such misses a problem does make. Lane, Rudolph, the kid from Dwyer who went to OSU, etc.

We need Bruce to stick and Mullins to qualify. If we re-recruit Coley, it's a serviceable group.

I'd also be worried about LB depth again, though a potentially studly freshman LB haul would help. And if we get Grace back a la Coley above, then we're much better off for it.

Why would Coley, Grace, or AQM declare?

Grace is the best player, but he's an extremely undersized LB. He needs to come back because he needs to gain about 10 pounds of solid weight to play in the league.

Coley is not nearly physical enough to declare.

And AQM hasn't done enough. And he's a RS-Soph, so he could still leave early, next year.

Those guys would be making terrible decisions to leave school early, after this season.

Burns might be able to make the jump ... But even he will be a late rounds pick. Why leave early, when he can come back next season and be an all-american?

Guys leaving early, when they haven't accomplished anything, is a symptom of being entitled.

The guys who left early last year were high draft picks ... Unless you're a running back, there is no reason to declare early if you aren't going in rounds 1-3, IMO.

We do have some talent on the team.

However, we definitely need to boost the team speed.

And the roster will change with the new head coach - incoming recruiting class plus some existing players who may "decide" to move on....

Coley really should not attempt to go to the draft this year. Still very immature and needs a lot more field time/tape to crack into the top 3 rounds. Why on earth would someone leave early just to get draft in rounds 4-6 with very little, if any, guaranteed money? He could definitely be in the top 2-3 rounds next year, but I really hope he isn't taking advice from those not looking out for his best interest.

Great and accurate analysis, IMHO. I think you're preaching to the choir here. But one of the beat writers (Matt Porter?) reported that Grace, Coley and AQM were seriously considering leaving early, prompting the panic. Doesn't make sense for those three. Burns, maybe, especially in a year where he leads the ACC in INTs.

That said, DMoney made a good point that talented juniors start eyeing the NFL about this time of year, every year, and then get a big dose of reality once evaluated. I think AQM comes back, but I worry that Coley pulls a Streeter.

If we snag an elite coach, or even a good coach, that roster is serviceable enough to get us in the playoffs.

We all thought Perryman was gone after his junior year too. He came back and made some money. I would think this happens with all of these guys except burns
