Role of Linebackers in Pass Protection

I am not an expert by any means, but don't linebackers have a role in short passing game protection, especially covering backs out of the backfield? Were they out of position or were the deployed in correctly. Very few of the passes went more than 10 yards in the air.

Typically they have a zone assignment in the middle of the field or in the flats. The routes BC seemed to feast on were curls near the sidelines. Those fall to the corners. I think Delaney's man caught 4 passes in a row at one point basically running the same route.
