rokilla's pre-spring depth chart / power rankings 2018

I don’t know boys, but Amari Carter is going to give Redwine a run for his money. To be fair with Redwine it was a transition year for him but I like Carter.

Smith played a rover/apache role this year. I think he stays that way...got the range to cover and can run support.

Need Irving and Polendy to step up big time this spring. Identifying our LT is also imperative.

Hillery takes that spot. Needed to get stronger and he’s done that having a year redshirt. Really think that kid can be good

How about Njoku and/or Langham to TE?

Would really be to Langham’s benefit to make that change.

Add some bulk to handle the blocking responsibilities this offseason, and go hard in the spring to compete for the spot.

Derrick Smith is a safety.... Depth Chart wise it makes sense to move Jaquan to the same side as Redwine. I would try out this line up in the spring to see if Carter and Smith are ready....

FS - Jaquan Johnson / Sheldrick Redwine or Gurvan Hall / Robert Knowles

SS - Amari Carter or Derrick Smith / Romeo Finley

CB - Jackson / Dean / Frierson

CB - Dean or Bandy / Ivey

NB - Bandy / Smith or Hall

Thanks for the thread, Rok. Seems about right, though I have a few points of disagreement.

The more interesting question to me is what the depth chart will look like post-spring. My predictions on some leapfrogging:
QB: Perry shoots #1 QB, Hightower moves to #4 WR, Frierson and Ivey move to #3 and #4 CB, Carter jumps to co-#2 with Redwine and Hall to #3 S .

Also, IMHO, given how thin we are at TE, Langham and/or Njoku have to take snaps there. Patchan is needed on the DL, Richt/Brown/Hartley really have no choice but to test one or both of them out. i wasn't impressed with Irvin, and believe the spot is open for the taking.

I think people are sleeping on Redwine. I believe Amari will be dope and he might just might surpass Redwine. But the way Redwine played at the end of the year was very encouraging, esp his play in that Pitt game. Our safeties will be LIT this season!!!

People were ragging on Diaz for playing that soft-zone **** in our final few games, or leaving Red in cover-1, a role which he's just not designed to fill. But we were bone thin with our personnel at times, especially when Delaney and Bandy were injured. Next season will be night & day at DB. We'll have experience and quality depth everywhere, even with the terrible MY news.

Redwine’s inexperience(too aggressive, taking chances and taking bad angles)at the safety position got him burned on various occasions this past season but like I mentioned it was his first year playing safety and he will be better this season. How much better? Time will tell, and that young buck Carter will be coming for that spot. Redwine better be ready to push himself to his limits gottdammit!

Smith isn't a corner...he may have lined up over a receiver when a team spread us out, but he's a safety for now...possible LB in the future.

Also, Joyner is not in for spring, he will enroll in summer.

My bad on Joyner. ****!! I was sure I had that one pegged.

Really wish Pope would of got in. Either way I feel like the feature wr will be Richards, Thomas, Pope.
