Richard played nickel/safety at Vandy...he is too up n down for me at the moment...and he isnt fast.

But atleast that aint effect his confidence because that mfer is always jawing with someone.

Agree except we need at least TWO portal CBs

I'll put it this way... there's a difference between having the ability and consistenly executing the technique and understand the defense.

I would argue it's the last two. And that's a common theme, if you aren't consistenly able to do what's asked of you, Mario and this staff won't play you.
 
When we landed him, I thought Stafford was raw and underdeveloped skills wise and physically, but could turn that speed and quickness into something after a couple years.

If he can’t get on the field this year, I’m not sure he’ll be here much longer. Because if I’m Guidry, as I’ve said in other posts, I’m at the point of trying anything (radical or not) at DB and especially Nickel.

Problem is we’re told he still is undersized and might not be able to tackle. I hope this isn’t a ‘he doesn’t weigh enough’ assumption. We have 200 pound DBs looking like bullfighters.
 
Need to address CB at portal next year the same way we did DL this year. Thank God we have Cam to outscore most teams we will play.

OJ is alright, Hill is better than everybody else but I still wouldn’t consider him good. He tackles high and gets dragged by bigger WRs. I have not seen any of our DBs make a sound open field tackle.

Hill and Federick definitely tackle and cover. The rest of the secondary, especially the safeties, were horrible. The Canes tackling was so bad that we didn’t notice Hill and Federick and Bissainthe actually tackled well.

When a team as a whole tackles this bad, it’s on the coaches. I can’t give the coaches a pass on this one. The Canes have talent and they tackled like the worst team in the ACC.

I am looking for the coaches to clean this up for the Cal game and every other game moving forward. If they do, then I will believe that we truly have good defensive coaches
