Robert Knowles was the Scrimmage Leading Tackler...

Knowles has always been a good to great special teamer, so the athleticism is there. He's certainly as athletic as Quan, just hasn't made the right decisions in some games when it mattered most and he was the cover safety. He's gotten enough reps since then to be wiser and a more complete player. So If he is ready to make the right decisions, there's no reason he can't contribute.

I just hope Bolden is ready to go if Knowles gets stage-fright on 8/24 when the lights are on.
Tf you smoking?

I posted this on another thread, but here it is again in case it was missed
I forget if it was FSU or LSU, (I think LSU), but the corner was totally out of position and not even in his area of coverage. The running back was running clear at the sideline, and Knowles was in no man's land having to make a choice of sticking with the receiver or coming up and making
a play on the running back. The play was actually reviewed to determine if the running back was across the line, he had stopped and threw
a pass as Knowles had decided to play the run. The pass was complete to the wide open receiver for a touchdown and the running
back was ruled at the line of scrimmage when he threw the pass. Knowles probably thought that he was already passed the line when he decided to
play the run. Had the corner been in position, the play would have most likely would have turned out very differently. I am not making any excuses for
Knowles, or am I a fan, as he has had his share of mistakes, but sometimes things are not exactly as they seem. But the message boards lit up
the next day, and he has been really slandered since.
I stopped reading after the bolded first line of your post, in order to find the other thread. What did the rest of your post say?

It speaks to how bad our D is going to be unless he made a bigger jump than mugsy bogues dunking. Also, it’s generally a red flag when a safety leads the team in tackles.
I'm pretty sure JJ lead the teams in tackles, so no it is not an indication of how bad our defense will be, it actually an indication on how our defense relies heavily on the safety play

Heads up post.

Matthews even did a Michael Jackson Moon Walk on Knowles *** on this abortion of a attempted tackle...

Knowles was the reason Matthews took that punt to the house.

I am expecting a big leap this year from Knowles. I think he has a chance to work himself into a Day 3 pick with a strong finish. Don't sleep on him!

Knowles gets hated on for a reason. Nobody has ever botched so many huge plays on defense whether it’s defending passes or runs. Add his special teams mishaps and it emphasizes the feelings.
He gave up a passing TD against FSU in 17 that almost cost us the game. He whiffed a tackle so bad on special teams against FSU in 18 that Mathews housed. He took a terrible angle on another return that went for a huge gain. Had that backwards pass not been called (it was close) he’d have singlehandedly cost us the game. I seriously can’t believe the coaches let him play another snap after last years FSU game.
The worst wasn’t even that game. The GT offense singled him out and ran to his side EVERY play in 17. He was lucky to make one of five tackles. We could have made a fortune in Vegas betting run left or right that game. I remember the people in my section all around me cursing the guy. It’s a painful memory.

The bottom line is I will cringe whenever we see 20 on the field until he proves otherwise. I DGAF how he looks in practice. He’s a proven liability on game day. It’s possible, but to think a redshirt senior who hasn’t been plagued by injuries is somehow going to magically change in one offseason...is HIGHLY unlikely.

Good to great special teamer??? What games have you watched???

I have zero concern with the safeties that Manny and Baker decide to play. There are some good options there out of the top 5. If Knowles is the worst option then the other guys better step up because he is getting playing time. With Bolden coming in late he isn’t stealing any significant reps for a while.
Smith, Hall, and Knowles have all looked good so far. If practice reports are any indicator Carter is the one getting passed up today.

My approach to Knowles is the same as every other position, if he’s the best option than play him.

On that note does anyone know when Bubba Bolden is going to be on campus?

Nobody has ever?

DJ had two fumbles against Duke.
Malik had 3 INTs in the first half in our bowl game.
Kosi went 3-6 with 2 INTs at Virginia.

And that’s just last season.

There’s plenty of blame to go around. Putting so much emphasis on one kid is childish and stupid.

Knowles shows up in practice and chokes in games... he’s a serviceable in the box safety coming off the bench when other guys need a rest but that’s it.

What i don't understand, more then half of these mothafukas on this board (never played a down of football) talk **** about a kid that busted his *** with coach Feeley in the summer, one of the HARDEST workers on the team, one of the toughest kids that been through alot growing up, never in trouble.

Yeah, he's not the most talented kid here, but Atleast he's trying to work hard to help his team win.

So **** whoever got a problem with 20, GO TO ****.

This dude has made 0 Plays in 4 years and we are supposed to say nice things? Legget, kirby freeman, kyle wright, alonzo highsmith jr were always spoke of highly huh?

There's a difference between critiquing his play and flat out bashing him. Is Knowles who I want back there starting? No and I'll admit that, but if the other guys cant beat him out then that's not knowles fault. I dont see anyone calling out Amari Carter or Hall...

And like I said what makes everyone think hes starting just because he led the scrimmage in tackles?

Lol what games have you watched to make that statement? Knowles is a bum on every unit he plays on. Yeah we r ****ed because we know what’s going to happen once he gets snaps syndrome Safety
