Chud is a very viable candidate. If he was selected everybody here would be very optimistic about his ability to win and convince recruits. My 2 top choices remain Schiano, because I think the admin would be more comfortable with him, but my heart is with Butch.

1. Coaches go to the Pros, it happens. Harbaugh, Caroll and Saban all went. It isn't a big deal.

2. When was the last time Miami lost another HC to another school?

3. Great. The key is finding a good coach first. Keep worrying about a non-issue before the actual issue is resolved.

4. I know you're a Potato. I know you lack common sense. I know you're concerned with the irrelevant. Check out that other thread and learn something. I never said we pay the most. If you read my post you would have read the following "This doesn't mean we can pay the most, but we certainly cay pay more than 4M per season. It's whether we want to pay."

5. Every coach since Howard has been here a good amount of time. Recently (Golden, Shannon and Coker) they've been here too long. Why do they need to be lifers?

How are you concerned with Continuity? We're going into year 5 of Golden, how is this a concern?

Anyone saying Chud wouldn't be good/great here is trippin. He's probably the best pure coach we could get. I don't think he'll leave the NFL though.

Butch is the second best coach we can get, but would be better at recruiting than Chud.

Just because you said the same things over again doesn't make your argument more credible. I'm sorry, you're the resident expert on all things Miami football. Maybe you should replace Blake James.

Chud would obviously be coming in as Head Coach, meaning Golden would be fired.
Chud isn't going to leave the NFL for anything less than head coach. And tbh, the only reason he'd probably consider coming back to college, is to be our HC.

I'm a big fan of Chud, but he seems like an NFL guy to me. I've never seen any signs that show him interested in returning to College.

I think the other concern is that we as a fanbase don't really have faith in our BOT and AD to be smart or ballsy enough to actually identify or land that "better than Butch" option. I know it's out there though. So then we end up falling back into the "safe" and "affordable" option of Butch Davis. I think ultimately this makes us look desperate and sad and really with no guarantee of his past success.

Like I said...I'll take it if it happens and be cool with it....but still......

We don't have faith that they will pick someone better than Butch, because we have a track record of three consecutive head coach failures.

Also, name the coaches that have proven they are better than Butch, and willing to come to UM. That's a short list, assuming it has anyone at all.

I don't think there are coaches who have proven they are better than Butch that would come here. You're talking about guys who have won NC's then...right? Or do you mean better than Butch right now? That's hard to say cause honestly Butch hasn't coached in quite a while..3 years is a LONG time. When I say better I'm talking about the next coach that someone like Alabama or FSU always seems to find that nobody knew about before. I think Charlie Strong would be a better option than Butch...maybe even Cristobal.
 
All this talk about Butch... I want a really good game day coach that can win. I LOVE what Butch built, but he was not a good game day coach. Please, let's get us a real game day coach that can win, and I promise you the recruits will line up to play for him. Butch would beat the pants off of anyone we've had since him, but I want to see another Howard Schnellenberger type who can actually out coach other teams, not just win because he's put more talent on the field. Don't get me wrong, I want us to have more talent than anyone else again, but when we have the right coach WITH all that talent, we'll see a **** of a lot less of those head scratching losses that we saw with Davis, and everyone that followed him.
 
I dont want Chud. I dont want Butch either. I want a ******* spread offense. Thats what wins. Almost every top team runs a form of the spread. Everybody wants to go back to the Dorsey days of running that Play action I formation ****, but the game has changed. We need a spread offense, and we'd be one of the most unstoppable offenses in the nation with the speedsters we have down here.

He could have taken the 49ers OC job but signed an extension with the Colts as the assistant HC.

Probably will take the Colts OC job after Pep Hamilton leaves and/or take an HC job in the NFL.

He's not going to come back to the NCAA.
