Putting a walk on QB in the game instead of the scholarship guy who could use some work in case the starter gets hurt? On the road?

Yeah, I don’t think so.

Putting people that have not played, are seniors, like slightly used players or scout teamers that have excelled, and put in a lot of work, has been a traditional thing to do since before I was born.

Getting a backup quarterback some work is a different issue.

Maybe they could’ve just put him in for a few plays so he could be on the record, and then put in the actual backup, or maybe he is the actual backup, who the fūck knows?

But you missed the point, it wasn’t a “participation trophy era” issue.

The era of the participation trophy.
It's called looking out for the guys that help hold a program together. Rizk has been on scout team, taking beatdowns, being a positive force in the QB room, of course you want him to experience playing in a game as a senior, especially in the season finale. Matocha did get some snaps late.

He's a senior
It’s the right move - we’re playing the long game with Rizk. He’s a redshirt sophomore. I LOVE his potential. Look at that mug - fully expect to see it on the cover of SI. He has a first round smile to go with his first round talent.

I feel like Rizk has been neck-and-neck with Matocha since the spring. Which is weird because Matocha was the QB for the 2019 recruiting class.
