Never forget the 1988 WS when he pinch hit Kirk Gibson, bad legs and all. The announcers were saying Lasorda has lost his mind in not so many words, and the first 2 swings by Gibson were downright awful. Oh, but that enormous homerun a few pitches later propelled the Dodgers to the championship over the A's in one of the greatest baseball upsets. He was a great manager, RIP

My dad was a Cardinals fan and was trying to get me to be the same as a child, but Tommy and his passion and drive made me a Dodgers fan for life. I adopted the Dodgers as my team at age 5 in 1983 and was never disappointed by his teams. Glad he got to see another title before he passed. RIP Coach
